Flexible B2C logistics solution In a large Internet mall, customers can find everything they need for their daily lives. And they like to have the goods they order online delivered to them in the comfort of their own homes as quickly as possible. The Czech-based internet shop Mall.cz has created a well-designed network of warehouse facilities, shops and collection points in order to fulfil their customers wishes as efficiently as possible. All that was missing was the logistics partner to deliver directly to the shops and to the customers. Gebrüder Weiss in the Czech Republic was engaged to set up a completely new, customised system for the business-to-customer deliveries, a system that would efficiently handle the tremendous number of consignments in a clearly defined but very short time frame. Gebrüder Weiss is not only developing a customised and highly complex solution for Mall.cz, but also additional services for the consignees.

The Challenge.

The Challenge. As the largest Internet shop in the Czech Republic, Mall.cz set Gebrüder Weiss the challenge of transporting large quantities of goods weighing over 30 kg on a daily basis. The goods consist mainly of consumer electronics or equipment for the home and garden. Since the Internet shop promises its customers to deliver the goods on the day after the order was placed, the time pressure is considerable. The area to be delivered to extends across the whole of the Czech Republic and also includes the shops in the partner countries of Slovakia and Hungary. The goal for Mall.cz: a system that operates reliably and quickly. In addition, the customers should receive such excellent service that they will want to order from Mall.cz again. The volume to be handled amounts to about 8,300 consignments per month plus 450 full loads per year to Slovakia and 4,200 pallets per year to Hungary. With its strong transport network in Europe and its flexible, customer-oriented solutions, Gebrüder Weiss is the ideal partner for this task. It sells goods from the most important areas of everyday life, such as kitchen accessories, garden equipment, electronics, baby items, sports goods, books and much more. Founded in the year 2000 under the name bilezbozi.cz, the company has expanded into the surrounding countries and was renamed Mall.cz in 2009. Today, Mall. cz has over 500 employees. 40,000 products leave the warehouse every day. Mall.cz operates a network of its own shops, 15 of these in the Czech Republic alone, others in Hungary, Slovenia and Slovakia.

Regular deliveries guaranteed In order to guarantee delivery within 24 hours of order, transport must be arranged to the stores, collection points and local warehouses several times a day. Gebrüder Weiss transports the goods to their destinations at fixed transit times. To Slovakia, for instance, two to three transport runs are made daily from Monday to Wednesday and one each on Thursday and Friday. The empty pallets are brought back once a week. Gebrüder Weiss demonstrates a high degree of commitment by guaranteeing fixed departure times and defined transit times. In the case of very heavy goods, the driver is accompanied by an assistant to help with the carrying. The driver phones the customer 30 minutes before arrival to say that the goods are on the way. The service also includes collecting payment on the spot 98 per cent of deliveries are paid for cash on delivery.
