Since 1975, The Charlotte Post Found a tion, in conjunction with Charlotte - Mecklenburg Schools, Charlotte Area Indep endent Schools and local Catholic Schools, has honored the academic achievements of top performing, African- American high school seniors throughout Charlotte who qualified for and applied to the Top Seniors Scholarship Program. Selected qualifying seniors receive celebrator y Senior Acknowledgements in the Magazine and are recognized as one of Charlotte s Top Seniors or Seniors of Merit. Acknowledgements list the senior s outstanding accomplishments in school, community involvement and acceptance into some of the top accredited Colleges, Universities and HBCUs in the U.S. Among the seniors, a panel of educators, community leaders and Foundation members selec t a Senior Of The Yea r and Runner-up to receive College Scholarships for their exemplar y level of academic excellence, a Senior Profile Spread in the Magazine and celebratory honors at the annual Post Best Awards Banquet. Learn more at: t h e p o s t f o u n d a t i o n. o r g TOP SENIOR SELECTION PROCESS Foundation provides high school counselors with materials detailing the Top Senior Scholarship Program, application process and criteria to qualify. Counselors submit lists of qualifying seniors to be considered. Qualifying seniors and their parents are notified with instructions to apply based on the following criteria: Essay GPA Upon evaluation, all selected qualifying seniors receive a special Senior Acknowledgement in the Magazine and recognition as one of Charlotte s Top Seniors or Seniors of Merit.
