CPS VPN Client Installation Guide 1. Make sure you have Administrative Rights to perform a CPS VPN Client Installation on your computer. 2. Please close all the open applications before proceeding with CPS VPN Client Installation. Your computer will be restarted at the end of CPS VPN Client installation. 3. Make sure that you have a WinZip application installed on your computer. If you do not have installed, please install an evaluation version of WinZip that could be found at www.winzip.com. 4. Connect to http://vpn.cps.k12.il.us. 5. Please familiarize yourself with CheckPoint Software SecuRemote Licensing Agreement document that could be found on that page. Please note: by downloading a CPS VPN client you are agreeing with all the terms and conditions set in the above document. 6. Choose your Operating System (left click on the underlined Operating System corresponding to that of your computer) to proceed with the VPN Client installation as per the Figure 1. Figure 1 7. Select Save this file to disk if your operating system is Windows 98 or Windows NT and press Save if you are running Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system. You might see a screen similar to Figure 2. Figure 2
8. Choose a location to save the file to as per Figure 3. Please note the location where the file has been stored. Click Save to proceed. Figure 3 9. Once the file is saved, the screen as per Figure 4 is displayed. Press Open to continue. Figure 4
10. Please note: you must have WinZip utility installed on your computer to proceed. If you do not have it installed, please visit www.winzip.com to install an evaluation copy of the above software. Double click the file ending in.zip as per Figure 5. Figure 5
11. If your operating system is Windows 2000, Windows NT or Windows 98 you might see the screen as per Figure 6. Press Yes to proceed with installation of VPN Client. Figure 6
12. Please choose Next as per Figure 7 to proceed. Figure 7 13. Please review the licensing agreement as per Figure 8. If you accept the terms and conditions set forth in the licensing agreement, press Yes to continue. Figure 8

If your operating system is Windows XP, please note: the installation procedure has been designed to require a minimum to no effort from the user, however, it is possible that during the client installation on Windows XP platform you will get a warning displayed to the effect that SecuRemote Miniport has not passed the hardware compatibility tests by Microsoft and the driver is not signed. You can safely disregard this message if it occurs as a result of the installation of SecuRemote/SecureClient. Please choose continue if you should see such a warning. A user with Administrator rights can disable driver signing in Administrative Tools of XP prior to installation, to avoid the hardware compatibility warning. 15. After your computer restarts following the installation, you should see the following icon in the system tray (lower right corner of your Windows taskbar): 16. Immediately after the above icon appears on your taskbar you will be prompted to update a CPS_SECURE_VPN site as per Figure 9. Before you proceed, please make sure that you have a network connectivity. Please press Update Now to continue. Figure 9 17. Click on icon in your system tray. When CPS VPN is used for the first time the following screen as per Figure 10 might appear. Click OK to continue. If the screen does not appear proceed to the discussion on how to use a VPN client in the Q&A section below.

19. If have followed all the above steps, your CPS VPN Client has been successfully installed. If you should experience any problems during the installation please contact a help desk personnel. *On some rare occasions, you might receive an error while performing the initial authentication. If this occurs, please log out of Windows and log back in you will be prompted to perform the same operation again (you might also choose to restart Windows instead of logging out). For specific issues regarding Windows 98, XP, installing Mapper software or general questions regarding installation and usage of VPN, see the VPN Client FAQ. The following discussion covers the usage of the CPS VPN Client: Q. How do I use CPS s VPN Client? A. CPS s VPN Client is designed to be used on an as needed basis. This means that in order to access an internal resource, i.e. Mapper, you will need to start a VPN Client. To start CPS VPN Client click once on about the screen as per Figure 12. icon in your system tray. This will bring Figure 12 Press Connect button to continue as per Figure 13.
Figure 13 Enter your Global Directory username and password and click OK button. If your credentials have been successfully authenticated, you are ready to access internal resources that were requested on CPS VPN Service Request form.
