She completed the Faculty Development Program in Health Literacy and Aging through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Russet is a doctoral student in the Adult and Community College Education program at North Carolina State University. She obtained her Masters in Library Science Degree in 1992 from North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. Teaching American Heart Association Courses Providing Technical Assistance Providing Quality Customer Service Managing Multiple Tasks, Projects and Priorities Designing and Creating Publications Creating New Ways to Streamline Work Processes Educating the Public about SR-AHEC and REIS Community Networking Heather Stewart has worked with Southern Regional AHEC for three years providing program support to the Community Training Center. Southern Regional AHEC s Training Center is affiliated with the American Heart Association and provides CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care training to medical professionals, as well anyone with limited or no medical training. As Training Center Specialist, Heather is responsible for daily operations of the Training Center such as customer support, technical assistance, and database management, to name just a few. As a BLS Instructor, Heather teaches monthly courses for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers and Heartsaver, both onsite and offsite. In 2012, Heather was made a Training Center Faculty Instructor. As TC Faculty, she is responsible for training AHA Healthcare Providers to become BLS Instructors, as well as monitoring and mentoring current BLS Instructors.

In this role, Sherry structures learning management websites and online content management systems, documents technology systems, and creates materials to train and support users. She often works with open source (free) software, such as Joomla, WordPress, Moodle, and TikiWiki. To augment her lifetime self-study of food systems and nutrition, Sherry completed the Food Literacy Partners Program (FLPP), a joint program of East Carolina University and Pitt County Hospital that trains individuals to make appropriate eating decisions and asks them to share information through community service. Sherry s formal education includes a master s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from NC State University and a bachelor s degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama. Organizational Planning Management/Leadership Strategies Quality Improvement Patient Centered Medical Home Consultation Program Planning and Evaluation Jennifer Borton brings 24 years of training, education and management experience to clients both from the private and nonprofit sectors. She began her career at Duke University Medical Center as a staff and charge nurse. She continued her career at Southern Regional AHEC as an assistant administrator - supervising continuing education, library and information systems personnel. Jennifer has experience as an independent consultant and has continued to provide research and grant writing for multiple agencies and organizations including planning and implementation grants. Her consultation services have also included extensive survey work, focus group facilitation, strategic plan writing, organizational assessments, evaluation of grant-funded programs, community mental health centers, nonprofit organizations, healthcare agencies and educational facilities. John Bigger, MS, LPC Administrator of Mental Health CE Phone: 910-678-7207 E-mail: John.Bigger@sr-ahec.org Coalition Building Technical Assistance Creative Solutions to Training Needs Teamwork John Bigger is currently the Administrator of Mental Health Continuing Education for Southern Regional AHEC and the Project Director for the North Carolina Evidence Based Practices Center in Fayetteville, NC. John has been with Southern Regional AHEC since 2002 where he has been responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, and conducting continuing education activities for mental health professionals in a nine-county region. John received his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Alabama and his Master s in Clinical Psychology in 1985. He has worked in a variety of clinical settings ranging from an outpatient state mental health program to a private in-patient treatment center. John s specialty areas include the treatment of chemical dependency, identification and treatment of eating disorders, and crises intervention. He is also a Licensed Professional Counselor. She currently manages and oversees a statewide staff development project for healthcare professionals working in the state owned healthcare facilities through a contract with the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. She has extensive experience as a clinician, administrator and educator in the behavioral health and human services fields. She has developed numerous evidence based behavioral health practices training curricula for both private and state behavioral health agencies to address agency and staff development needs. Christina has also provided consultation to private behavioral health agencies in various states on the development and implementation of Intensive In-Home Services, home-based counseling for children and families. She received her MS degree in Human Services and Clinical Counseling from Post University and is a Human Services Board Certified Practitioner. Andrea holds a doctorate in Public Health from Walden University, a Masters degree in Health Science from Chapman University, a Bachelor s degree in Nursing from Graceland University, and a Bachelor s degree in Agriculture from the University of Vermont. She is one of three North Carolina nurses to be a Fellow in the Academy of Emergency Nursing. Andrea is board certified in Nursing Professional Development. She is a published author, serves on the editorial board for the Journal of the National AHEC Organization, and is a national speaker on a variety of topics related to nursing and continuing education.

A health educator and integrative health coach with over 20 years experience in health promotion, Karen has trained and coached diverse participants across the US, Hawaii, and Europe. She received her master s degree in Health Education and Promotion at East Carolina University and is certified as a coach through Duke Integrative Medicine. Karen completed the Mindfulness for Professionals program at Duke in 2009. Her research focused on the experiences of persons living with chronic health conditions who participated in a mindfulness-based health promotion program. Sharing and Caring--Planning and Leading Dental Outreach Initiatives Working in Economically Disadvantaged Areas Coordinating Services for those in Need In her current role, Barbara Smith is involved in scheduling and managing multiple continuing education programs for Dentistry and CME. Barbara has also worked with the North Carolina Missions of Mercy free dental clinic to bring dental care to nearly one thousand patients in Cumberland County across a two-day period. She also regularly leads mission and outreach teams to Jamaica with the primary focus on dental and medical initiatives. Barbara received her B.S. Degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Masters in Community Health Education from Virginia Tech University.
