INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES Please read the following information very carefully and refer to it when completing the assignment. Information 1. This assignment has been set to enable you to demonstrate your ability to research, analyse and problem solve a range of different situations. 2. You are expected to approach your assignment work from a purchasing and supply context. 3. You will be asked to undertake a range of tasks and activities related to your learning but applied to your own organisation, or one with which you are familiar. 4. All the tasks indicate the main links with the unit content learning objectives. 5. Please ensure that you read the candidate guide to Work Based Assessment. Ask your tutor for your free copy. 6. It is important that the organisation that you choose to base each task of your assignment upon allows you to fully demonstrate the knowledge you have gained within the unit studied. It is of greatest value to base your assignment upon the organisation you work for as that will be the one you can most easily gain the information needed for you to complete the tasks. 7. In some cases, if for example, you are unemployed or work for a very "niche" type organisation then this may not be possible and you should choose another organisation that you are confident that you will be able to source information on. 8. You should plan your work carefully to ensure that you have answered all the tasks fully and that you cover all the assignment requirements. 9. Important Information Prior to commencing this assignment you are required to provide a 300-400 word introduction to your chosen organisation, outlining the nature of the products / services, markets, company structure and brief history. This is to help the assessor, internal verifier and CIPS moderator to put your answers to the tasks into context. This information should also be provided if you select a different organisation when attempting tasks 2, 3 or 4. The information should precede the task. Please note that this information is not assessed, does not carry any marks and is not included in the word count for each task. SECTION A This task is compulsory. It is worth 45% of the total marks. Task 1: Monitoring Supplier Performance Evaluate the methods an organisation with which you are familiar uses to monitor the performance of its critical suppliers. SECTION B Answer TWO tasks from section B. You are strongly advised to carefully read all of the tasks in section B before selecting TWO tasks to answer. Each task is worth 25%. Task 2: Examine how supply chain ICT is used, for an organisation with which you are familiar, to assist in meeting customer demand. Recommend areas for improvement where appropriate. SECTION C This task is compulsory. It is worth 5% of the total marks.
