15 Chartered Membership CIPS is seeking approval from the Privy Council in 2014 to create and implement a grade of Chartered Membership above MCIPS Designed for advanced professionals who want to distinguish themselves in their career.

16 Why is CIPS doing it? As a Chartered Institute with a public good mandate it is our duty to ensure that the public is protected whether it be child or forced labour in the supply chain, lead poisoning in children s toys or any other example that could lead to the sickness, injury or death of an individual because of malpractice and/or errors in managing a supply chain

17 Charter Grade Principles The Chartered member grade will sit above MCIPS The Chartered member grade will be available globally Members have to be MCIPS before being awarded Charter The Chartered member grade once gained will have to be renewed annually, (CPD is likely requirement. Online CPD system available free to all grades) Members will lose their Chartered member grade if the requirements of the annual renewal are not fulfilled. Members will revert back to MCIPS A register of all members with Charter will be published on the website The Chartered member grade will be at Masters Level learning Three routes to achieving Charter: An academic route. CIPS Executive Diploma in Strategic Sourcing An applied learning route. Masters level Corporate Award leading to the CIPS Executive Diploma in Supply (title to be agreed) An experiential route for senior and long standing practitionerswho can demonstrate the competencies required To ensure personal accountability all Chartered Member applications will have to undertake an online annual Ethics Test If a Charter member brings CIPS or the profession into disreputethen disciplinary action will be taken
