1. Configuration of NFS service General information NFS service can be configured on a NAS drive or on a central Windows/Linux Server. Our example deals with the setup on a NAS drive. Notice: in order to avoid black-outs in recordings, it is advisable to use a NAS drive that restarts automatically in case of power failure. Not all NAS drives meet this requirement. Connect the NAS drive to your own network and assign an IP address. In our example, the IP address of NAS drive will be 192.168.2.21. Service configuration Create a folder and an NFS service and assign a name to it (ex.: mygekkodemo ). Rights setup For NFS service: EVERYBODY must access the service without any password or username. MyGEKKO doesn t support any login. For reasons of safety, the enabling can be assigned only to a specific IP address, should the NAS drive support this function. For Samba enabling: for the enabling, it s possible to set a username and a password. mygekko Touch LAN NAS drive 4
2. Activation of service NFS activation 1. Tap the Info box in the system menu in order to assign the NFS enabling. 2. Under the heading Server, select NFS and CIFS-SMB (for Samba enabling). Save the path under Share. In our example: 192.168.2.21:/mnt/ide4/mygekkodemo (NFS service) //192.168.2.21/mygekkodemo (for Samba enabling not available with mygekko Classic) The directory name of NFS service is up to the NAS drive producer. 3. Wait for 1 minute until an information field appears under the path, showing details about the total storage and the free storage for the service. Tip! NFS service properly configured If no information is available, mygekko can t access the service. Change to submenu with the wrenchshaped icon and check if any error messages are displayed so that it s possible to identify the source of the problem. 5
3. Configuration of storage locations mygekko types of storage List file: - Daily and monthly recordings of energy counters, weather stations, access log, SMS Log, etc. - Local storage possible on device, USB drive or NFS. Trends file: - 15 min recordings of energy counters, weather station data, temperatures from individual room controllers, etc. - Storage possible on USB drive or NFS. Video file: - Jpg images from LAN camera, automatically or manually saved. - Storage possible on USB drive or NFS. Setting of storage location 1. Change to system menu -> Recording / Log. 2. Set out the desired storage location for the lists file, the trends file and the video file. If you want to save data on a Nas drive as in our example, select Server. 3. Select > in the nearby field in order to create additional folders. For this purpose, enter the directory name under Folder, e.g. list for lists file, trend for trends file and video for video file. Select New folder to save the folder. By clicking Close you come back to the main menu where the newly created subdirectory is displayed under Folder. Set storage location 6
4. Further uses of NFS Backups and updates It s possible to save backups and updates (system menu-> system maintenance) directly on the server. They will be stored in the main directory of the service. If several mygekko devices are used inside the building, it s possible to enable each single display. Thus, the updates can be distributed across the server. For further information, please consult the update instructions on the web at www.my-gekko.com. Music If you are using a music multi-room system with mygekko, you can integrate the NFS service in the creation of playlists too. For this purpose, create a subdirectory in your own NFS for each single playlist, e.g. rock, classical, etc. MP3 files can be easily saved to respective folders and mygekko automatically creates the playlist. Digital frame Change to menu item Display in the system menu. Select PhotoFrame under Display switching off. Select Server as Photoframe source. Save the images (jpg) to the main directory of NFS enabling. mygekko will display them with an amazing slide show. (it starts at the end of a defined period of time, once the display has been switched off) Tip: thanks to a timer, you can change from PhotoFrame to Logout etc. and viceversa. 7
