NGSS Data Consolidator (DC) The Data Consolidator (DC) facilitates system configuration, monitors network status, and supervises long-term data storage and remote data transmission. The DC consists of one CPU, one or more Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices, a Digital Camera Interface (DCI) for each camera, at least one Ethernet switch and an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) for each. The CPU, NAS units and DCIs are networked together via the Ethernet switch. The DC includes a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for configuration and maintenance. Access to this web browser requires a valid crypto-token. In extended systems, multiple cameras are connected to data consolidator (DC) servers that receive, store and, in remote monitoring applications, forward data. The DC provides primary camera power via the communication and power cable that runs from the DCI to the camera, supplied by the UPS and powered by AC mains. The DC also provides short-term backup power via the UPS batteries for the cameras in case of loss of AC mains. The camera contains its own long-term battery backup for extended power outages. The NGSS Data Consolidator (DC) is designed as a 19 in. rack-mounted unit with the following subsystems: One or more DC chassis containing: One Central Processing Unit (CPU). One or more Digital Camera Interface (DCI) s. One or more Network Attached Storage (NAS) s. An Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) for each. One or more 16-port Ethernet switches (installed on the rear of the rack). Universal AC mains power input. A touch-panel configuration interface (Optional). NAS Reader (Optional) Separate from the Data Consolidator. (3) UPS s (1) CPU (1) NAS THE DC CHASSIS (1) DCI The DC Chassis supports architecture goals of modularity and interchangeability. Each chassis is designed to fit in a standard 19-inch rack and hold up to four of any CPU, NAS and DCI combination along with a UPS for each. Industrial components used in the s provide extended operation in adverse conditions. The chassis accommodates a wide range of power input: 90-240 V ac; 50-60 Hz, 5 A max per chassis. Central Processing Unit (CPU) Based on 500 MHz, ARM9, PC/104 Single Board Computer 128 MB DDR-RAM 512 MB high speed NAND Flash Runs Debian Linux operating system with 2.6-based kernel distribution One externally available USB 2.0, 480 Mbps host/slave ports 10/100 Base-T Ethernet with rear panel connectivity for easy insertion/removal of Front panel indicator lights for power, error and media state Hosts web site through secure browser to system panel PC, providing user with system information and status Powered via NGSS UPS I 2 C communication with UPS for state of health and application ID information Controls and monitors power of Ethernet switch through secondary I 2 C bus The CPU controls and manages the NGSS system. Through the website, all system functions, such as setup, configuration, user access levels, security, data requests are all performed via the CPU. It monitors all DCI and NAS units and routinely downloads images from DCIs to the appropriate NAS. It also provides security access. It has the ability to reboot itself in addition to the Ethernet switch on command. During system startup, the CPU senses and locates all s through a self-discovery method to speed up initial installation process. INPUT VOLTAGE 7-36 V dc. POWER 5 W Max. OPERATING TEMPERATURE 0 to +70 C (32 to 158 F). SIZE 3 U x 10 HP x 160 mm Deep. WEIGHT 1.4 kg (3 lb).

Digital Camera Interface (DCI) Based on Analog Devices ADSP-BF537 Blackfin Processor 3-port Ethernet switch for local, camera and uplink Integrated HTTPS client and server with TLS protection High-speed RS-485 connection to the camera Low-power RS-485 for an optional EOSS connection Rack-mountable in the Data Consolidator (DC) chassis (3 U /10 HP) The DCI is the bridge between the NGSS Data Collector and a DCM-C5 camera or a legacy DCM-14 camera. The DCI was developed by Dr. Neumann Consulting but is considered part of the Data Collector as it is mounted in a Data Consolidator chassis with a UPS. An NGSS system includes one DCI for each camera connected to the system (minimum of 1, maximum of 32). INPUT POWER FROM UPS 10.5-16 V dc 56 W (4 W for DCI, 52 W for camera). POWER SUPPLY OUT TO CAMERA 24 V dc 1.5 A. OPERATING TEMPERATURE 0 to +70 C (32 to 158 F). SIZE 3 U x 10 HP x 160 mm Deep. WEIGHT 0.5 kg (1 lb).

Network Addressable Storage Unit (NAS) Based on 500 MHz, ARM9, PC/104 Single Board Computer 128 MB DDR-RAM 512 MB high speed NAND Flash Runs Debian Linux operating system with 2.6-based kernel distribution Two USB 2.0, 480 Mbps host/ slave ports for Media Module interface Removable Media Module consisting of two 128 GB SATA Solid State Drives for redundant data storage Media Modules are designed for industry standard 2.5 in. SATA Drives providing an upgrade path to future, larger capacity solid state drives 10/100 Base-T Ethernet with rear panel connectivity for easy insertion/removal of Front panel indicator lights for power, error and media state One NAS can store images for multiple cameras Hosts web site through secure browser to systems panel PC, providing user with system information and status Powered via NGSS UPS I 2 C communication with UPS for state of health and application ID information The NAS is designed to provide easily removable data storage for the NGSS surveillance system. Data can be accessed via Ethernet or by placing the removable media into the desktop review station (GARS, PC and reader are required). Indication LED is provided for safe removal of media. Solid yellow LED indicates media is powered and not safe to remove. Blinking Yellow indicates drive is in process of closing down. Blue LED indicates drive has been successfully shutdown and it is now safe to remove from system. INPUT VOLTAGE 7-36 V dc. POWER 13 W Max, 5 W for CPU and up to 8 W for Media Module. OPERATING TEMPERATURE 0 to +70 C (32 to 158 F). SIZE 3 U x 10 HP x 160 mm Deep. WEIGHT 1.4 kg (3 lb) with NAS Media Module installed.

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Provides up to 25 W for fast battery charge Indicator LEDs to show status for AC power good (green), on battery (yellow) and error condition (red) Error conditions: over temperature, open load and shorted/over current output. Output is disabled during over current and over temperature conditions Recessed, time delayed, push button On/Off switch to prevent accidental actuation. Switch has integrated LED for DC output on indication Auto turn on when recovering from power outage for unattended operation Compact PCI Style backplane mating connector providing high current, AC and DC sections I 2 C bus providing backplane location ID, EEPROM (1 MB), temperature, battery charging voltage, charge current and discharge current to NGSS s Smart charging system based on the Unitrode/TI UC2906 sealed lead-acid battery charger controller chip Battery cut-off circuitry at 10.5 V to protect battery from deep discharge Absorbent glass mat, sealed lead acid battery for easy and safe transport and disposal.
