Frequently Asked Questions 1. Is Georgia Military College just for people in the military? No! It s just part of our legacy to have military in our name. Your experience at the Fayetteville campus will be a totally civilian experience (like the tag line). 2. Where is Georgia Military College located? Our new Fayetteville campus is located at 255 Veterans Parkway, directly behind the Piedmont Fayetteville Hospital. We are one of ten Georgia Military College campuses. The nine other GMC campuses throughout the state are located in Augusta, Columbus, Fairburn, Madison, Milledgeville, Sandersville, Stone Mountain, Valdosta, and Warner Robins. GMC is the second largest two-year college in the state. 3. Has GMC been around for very long? Yes! Georgia Military College was established by the Georgia General Assembly in Milledgeville, GA in 1879. Classes began in January, 1880. The name was changed to Georgia Military College in December, 1900. 4. Is GMC accredited? Yes! We are regionally accredited by the same accrediting body (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges) as GSU, CSU, UGA, and other USG institutions throughout the Southeast. 5. Will courses I take at GMC transfer to other colleges and universities? Yes! But just as with other colleges and universities, there are sometimes restrictions or exceptions. GMC has over 30 strong articulation agreements with other colleges in the state to protect the transferability of our courses. This is not the case with some institutions, especially those not regionally accredited, so be careful!
