Post-study work rights In 2013, the Australian government made changes to the Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa, introducing new post-study work rights for graduates of a bachelors, masters or doctoral degree. Every international student graduating from a qualifying program now has the opportunity to stay in Australia and work for up to four years. If you wish to take advantage of the new visa arrangements and work in Australia after graduation, industry-related work experience is essential. I felt it really important as an international student to attend Sydney TAFE s free, five-week Employability Skills Workshop. I can happily say I learnt so much more than I expected.
