Deaf Services Report - Tanya Haga Many of you know that some of the hospitals in our area have starting using VRI s or Video Remote Interpreting. This is like VP, but in the hospital. Pros to VRI: faster access because you do not have to Ronal Kirk Born: January 20, 1959 Passed away: Dec 1, 2014 Left behind: sister, brotherin-law, niece, and many friends. wait for an interpreter to arrive and VRI can be available when there is bad weather. Cons to VRI: does not work well with multiple Deaf in the room, people who are Deaf and have low vision, have had a lot of medicine, are drunk, are high, or have a cognitive delay. There can also be equipment issues. Condolences Tia Congious Born: Dec 6, 1973 Passed away: Dec 31, 2014 Left behind: husband, daughters - including Ma Tia Porter, grandchildren, other family members, and friends I have been told by MedCentral that patients have the choice to use the VRI or to have one of the Rehab Center interpreters come. If you are not happy with your experience, call the MedCentral Clients Rights Office. MedCentral s phone number is 419-526 - 8000. Dale Hatfield Born: January 26, 1957 Passed away: Jan 2, 2015 Left behind: sister - Robin Kemp, other brothers and sisters, mother, wife, and children. Community Center for the Deaf and Hard-of- Hearing 270 Sterkel Blvd Mansfield, OH 44907 A Catalyst Company We are online! www.therehabcenter.org/ deaf-services/supportservices It seems the weather is going to continue to be cold. Remember to keep your body in the best health possible. Eat fruits, vegetables, lean meats and drink water. Having a healthy body can help prevent colds, flues and other common illnesses. Friendly Reminders The Winter Blues can lead to a bad attitude. Try to find a hobby or any activity that helps you to feel happy. This can keep you in good mind and attitude. Spring will be here soon! Please remember if you cancel an appointment to also call and cancel with the interpreters. We appreciate it, thanks!
