INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR passenger PORTS The complexity of managing a Passenger Port which grew at an annual pace of 10,5% over the period 1997-2011 along with the need to introduce steady innovation for optimizing operating efficiency led Venezia Terminal Passeggeri S.p.A to share its know-how with the engineering industry and to found the sister company VTP Engineering S.r.l. Based in Venice, the new sister company provides technical consultancy to cruise ports in the fields of planning, design and construction of logistics infrastructures and equipment. The first two prototypes of - the MBT (Multipurpose Boarding Tower) and the SBB (Ship Boarding Bridge) - are now operating at Venezia Terminal Passeggeri s facilities allowing a better management of passenger flows while granting a high level of comfort, safety and security. MBT (Multipurpose Boarding Tower) AND SBB (SHIP BOARDING BRIDGE) The MBT (Multipurpose Boarding Tower) is an innovative multi-purpose boarding tower that optimizes the embarking/ disembarking operations of passengers from/to cruise ships, thanks to the use of a system of elevators linking the dock, the terminal and the vessel, regardless of the height of the boarding ramp. Its limited overall dimensions on the quay allow to carry out luggage delivery and handling operations in the safest way. Main technical features Direct connection between Dock - Terminal - Ship Dimensions on dock: 8.8 x 11.8 m Tower height of 18.2 m Operating load 120 t Movement along quay on rails or on rubber wheels Boarding point: 4 to 13.2 m above the dock level, also for ships with outboard lifeboats Functions: movement of tower along the dock; lifting of telescopic tunnel; handling of boarding bridge 3 lifts holding 26 persons each, for a flow of over 2000 people/hour Security check point on dock for the direct access to the ship from the quay (or vice versa), even without using the Terminal User-friendly also for unaccompanied passengers with reduced mobility Short walking paths and limited slopes Independent electricity generator for total autonomy of the MBT in case of loss of energy from the network (from the Terminal) The SBB (Ship Boarding Bridge), designed as a traditional gangway, allows passengers to board and disembark from a ship with a boarding height ranging from +4.20 m to +13.20 m Main technical features Boarding or disembarking of over 2000 passengers/hour from terminal level Min/max boarding height: +4.20 m +13.20 m Permitted terminal level height: +5.00 +10.00 m User-friendly also for unaccompanied passengers with reduced mobility Automatic leveling to the tide Ship security tracking devices and protection of passengers if bridge is accidentally detached from ship.

The port of Venice: strategically located and linked All terminals are easily connected with the main land, in fact Venezia Terminal Passeggeri S.p.A s facilities are situated at the exit of the Ponte della Libertà (causeway connecting Venice to the mainland), allowing to reach the Passenger Port by car, taxi-cab, water taxi, public waterway or bus. In addition all terminals are only 3 minutes far from the historical city centre thanks to the People Mover, a land funicular connecting the Passenger Port to the car terminus of Piazzale Roma and the Railway Station. This monumental work which has completely changed a side of the city and the town entrance, responding to local mobility and international visitor reception requirements, will be completed by the future construction of a new multi-story car park along with shops and hotels located at the Marittima area. Furthermore, less than 13 kilometers from Venezia Terminal Passeggeri, the International Marco Polo Airport with its 200 daily flights completes the Port s claim to be one of the most easily accessible Cruise Terminals. Location of the Passenger Terminals is strategic not only for the city, but as well for its easy access to all the attractions that surround Venice and the Veneto Region. Among the main cultural attractions within 60 miles from the Port of Venice, you will find Treviso, Padua, Verona and Garda Lake. The wineries of the Soave grape, the Euganean Hills, famous golf courses like the Asolo Golf Club or the Lido of Venice, the Dolomites and Cortina d Ampezzo are an hour and a half away. With over 100 specialized companies, including shipping agents, providing services for shipping lines and cruise companies that call in Venice you will find an agent that fits your needs. crew services Alberto, Alberto, Alice, Andrea, Andrea, Andrea, Anita, Anna, Egidio, Emilio, Fabio & Anna, Fabio, Francesco, Gabriele, Jaco, Luca, Michele, Stefano, Tatiana Seafarers are the hardworking men and women who work aboard cargo and cruise ships, playing a critical role in the growth of global commerce. 90% of global trade is transported by sea and seafarers are the human faces behind the food we eat, the oil we use in our cars and the cement in the sidewalks we tread. Seafarers work long hours, often under lonely, perilous conditions. Signing on for year-long contracts at sea in order to support loved ones at home, mariners must deal with isolation, stress, dangerous conditions and increasing incidents of piracy in certain parts of the world. We find most crew now come from countries where unemployment is very high and the jobs they find with cargo and cruise lines provide means to support their families and build futures for them. In addition to being so far from home, seafarers are nearly invisible to the societies they serve, for this reason Stella Maris Friends offers to them support at different levels. Stella Maris Friends Onlus takes care about seafarers in Venice port. SeafarerS welfare facilities Born in 2001 Stella Maris Friends Onlus provides help to seafarers inside Marittima Seamen s Club, also through a strong ship visiting activity in Marghera cargo port managed by the main branch in via Fratelli Bandiera 158/a (Marghera - Venezia). venice marco polo airport SAVE S.p.A. has been managing the Venice Airport System, which includes the airports of Venice and Treviso. With 8,6 million passengers and over 230 daily flights recorded in 2011, the Venice Airport represents a crucial junction for international exchanges. The strength of the Airport is the airline traffic which represents 95% of the total. With a surface of around 60.000 square meters the new passenger terminal is one of the most technologically advanced air terminal of Italy, thanks to five hundred kilometers of electric wires and optical fibres for data transmission, 60 check-in points and an advanced Baggage Handling System extending itself for a total length of 3000 metres, that enable the luggage automatic handing-out through optical scanner systems. Boardings will be done through six loading bridges which are directly connected with the aircraft and equipped with automatic optical scanner systems; otherwise, they can be done through passenger shuttles. More than 6 millions Euros have been invested for providing the terminal with video-surveillance devices, access control systems, x-ray devices for the luggage control, x-ray systems for the control of hand luggage, metal detectors. The security system planning features a high degree of innovation. Besides the different system control software with a surveillance function (fire-fighting, smoke control, intrusion control, gate control, etc.), a further global control system is scheduled. In order to ensure a pleasant stay in the terminal, retail areas covering a surface approximately of 5.000 square metres have been arranged in the departure hall: here one can find the most famous trademarks such as Bulgari, Ferragamo, Valentino, Burberry, Montblanc, Loro Piana, Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren, Ferrari, La Perla, Liu Jo, Bose, Belstaff and much more, and restoration areas such as the Culto Café, the DeCanto Winery, the Bricco Restaurant and Snack Bar, the Pilsner Urquell Beer Lounge and the BAT Smoking Lounge.
