2 Introduction to BackupAgent BackupAgent is a powerful and safe cloud backup and recovery service. Because of its user-friendliness and its many possible uses, BackupAgent is an ideal backup solution, particularly for small and medium-sized businesses. The BackupAgent software is used to store data backups from desktops and laptops. BackupAgent supports most popular operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux distributions. This makes BackupAgent Cloud Backup the ideal total data security solution in any business environment. Business-critical data is encrypted and compressed, and sent to the data center for secure storage. You can use BackupAgent to manage your backups in your own convenient management console, for easy monitoring and proactive service provision to your users. In addition to supporting standard backups, the software contains convenient plug-ins that allows your users to create simple backups of, among other things, Microsoft Outlook and Windows System State. This manual is aimed to help you configure BackupAgent successful and to assist your end users in working with BackupAgent. The following BackupAgent versions are available through your vendor. 3 Configuring BackupAgent Once your order is successfully completed and your subscription has been created you will find a reference to BackupAgent in your Control Panel Dashboard and/or in the Control Panel Navigation menu. 3.1 Create a BackupAgent account Before you can start using BackupAgent you first need to create a service user and add the BackupAgent service to this service user (or assign the BackupAgent service to an already existing service user, if available). To add a new BackupAgent account: 1. Login to the Customer Control Panel 2. Choose in the dropdown (top right) the BackupAgent subscription. 3. Click the Add New link in BackupAgent widget on your Dashboard. 5

If one or more Service Users are already present in your account the above screen will be shown. From here you could skip the creation of a new Service User and add the BackAgent service to an existing Service Users. In this manual we will create a New Service User. Mark the New Service User option and click the next button to continue. 6

4. Enter the details of the new Service User. Use a login name on an existing domain that is hosted in your account or enter a custom email address to be used as the login name. Enter a password or use the Generate new password button. If the entered information is not valid, a notification message will be displayed among the fields. Click Next to continue the wizard 7

5. Supply a storage quota in GB s and enter or the personal details of the new BackupAgent account correct if necessary. If the entered information is not valid, a notification message will be displayed among the fields. Click Next to continue the wizard. 8

6. Check the data and click finish. 9

7. Refresh the screen by clicking on the green rounded arrow (top left) to check the provisioning status. 8. When the status is changed from Provisioning to Ready the user account is successfully created and ready to use. You can use the Open link at Entry Point to directly login to the users BackupManager Management Console. 10

4 Frequently Asked Questions Q: What is the use of the Encryption Key? A: This key encrypts all backup data and decrypts data when restoring. IMPORTANT: This key is unique and can only be chosen once and cannot be changed afterwards. Treat this key with great care, since it is required to restore your files after a system crash. Note: It is possible to store a reminder which can be sent to your personal e-mail address. In this wizard the field to enter the reminder will change into a link: Forgot your encryption key? Q: What is the Backup Manager Management Console? A: The Backup Manager Management Console can be accessed through an Internet browser (e.g. Internet Explorer or Firefox) via Single Sign-on from your Control Panel and can be used to access your data to restore or remove a file and to get an overview of your backups through logs and reports. Q: What Operation Systems does BackupAgent support? A: BackupAgent supports the following Operation Systems: Windows XP Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 Windows Server 2003 / 2008 / 2008 R2 / 2012 Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.0 and higher) (PPC is not supported, Intel only) Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.0 and higher) Mac OS X Lion Mac OS X Mountain Lion Linux (RedHat, SuSE, Debian and Debian based systems such as Ubuntu) Solaris 10 Solaris 11 Q: What languages does BackupAgent support? A: BackupAgent supports the following languages: Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish 12

5 Known issues Currently, the BackupAgent product has the following limitations: The used storage of the BackAgent users is not shown in the Control Panel. To view the used storage follow the Open link at Entry Point to open the BackupAgent Management Console. If you change your password in the BackupAgent Management Console this is not synchronized back to the Control Panel and therefor the Single Sign-on link from the Control Panel to the BackupAgent Management Console will no longer function. To avoid this you should only change your BackupAgent account password from the Control Panel. 13

6 Managing your subscription You can easily upgrade, downgrade or cancel your BackupAgent subscription via the Customer Control Panel. For more information please refer to the general Customer Control Panel Manual. 14

7 Additional Information For more information on BackupAgent refer to www.resellerwebsite.nl or the official BackupAgent support website http://www.backupagent.com/ 15
