THEMIS: MARINE RESOURCES MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE SUITE

THEMIS*, A COMPREHENSIVE FISHERIES MANAGEMENT SUITE THEMIS is a comprehensive data integration interface and a crucial tool for maintaining 24-hour fishing vessel surveillance based on a variety of data sources. THEMIS makes it possible to visualize active fleet on screen, manage multiple restricted fishing zones, visualize catch data, measure fishing effort, and detect illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing on a regional level. MONITORING, CONTROL AND SURVEILLANCE CENTER The THEMIS Fisheries Management suite is based on the Fisheries Monitoring Center core system, which allows for vessel monitoring & other marine resources management applications via a variety of data sources. Additional building blocks may be added to the suite depending on clients needs. *THEMIS = THEmatic Maritime Information System

FMC CORE SYSTEM, A STATE-OF-THE-ART MONITORING TOOL FOR FISHERIES MANAGERS The FMC core system is a crucial tool for maintaining 24-hour fishing vessel surveillance, measuring fishing effort, and managing multiple restricted fishing zones via a user-friendly interface. FMC CORE SYSTEM THEMIS is capable of processing and displaying VMS reports (date, GPS position, speed, heading ) for an entire national fleet as well as the vessels in a given zone regardless of the satellite provider (Inmarsat, Iridium, Argos, etc.). Advanced geo-fencing capabilities make it possible to control national fleets in and outside EEZ and monitor all vessels in national waters. Alert features include: Zone management Detection of prohibited actions (ex: trans-shipment) Auditing of outlaw behaviors (speed, outsales, etc.) BENEFITS Friendly, intuitive GUI to visualize active fleet on screen Geo-fencing capabilities: to control multiple restricted fishing zones Detection of prohibited actions Friendly, intuitive graphic user interface (GUI) for visualizing active fleet on screen. Manage multiple restricted fishing zones (including marine reserves) and EEZ. Manage registration of your national fleet via the vessel management interface. Fine-scale display on C-MAP nautical chart.

E-LOGBOOK BUILDING BLOCK, A CATCH REPORT MANAGEMENT TOOL With the e-logbook building block, fisheries managers visualize catch data quickly and intuitively. In addition to the FMC core system, THEMIS becomes a sophisticated fisheries management system. BENEFITS E-LOGBOOK BUILDING BLOCK THEMIS is capable of processing and displaying catch report data entered by the fisherman. This crucial catch effort data makes it possible to manage your national fisheries efficiently and maintain a record of fish stocks. Visualize catch data in combination with vessel positions Generate reports combining multiple logbook data Establish a catch record in order to manage national fisheries sustainably Combine vessel position with catch report details on screen. Display the catch report data from a specific vessel. Generate detailed reports with logbook data.

IUU BUILDING BLOCK, DETECTING ILLEGAL FISHING PRACTICES REMOTELY Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery is a cost-effective technology for detecting illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing remotely. With the IUU application, CLS provides satellite-radar data making it possible to monitor regional zones and effectively eradicate illegal fishing activities. IUU BUILDING BLOCK, TO VIEW RADAR DATA THEMIS is capable of processing and displaying synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images in combination with Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) tracking data, making it possible to identify illegal or undeclared fishing vessels remotely. THEMIS makes it easy to work with these high tech data in order to eradicate illegal fishing activities in a specific zone. BENEFITS Effective technique for remotely monitoring EEZ Display multiple detection layers to identify non-vms equipped vessels Display multiple detection layers to detect non-vms equipped vessels. Vessels detected by radar satellite without corresponding VMS track are easily visible.

FISHERIES SUPPORT BUILDING BLOCK, AID TO LOCAL FISHERIES Metocean data is crucial for understanding the ocean environment and working in it safely and efficiently. The Fisheries Support building block uses metocean data to optimize fishing campaigns in support of local fisheries. BENEFITS FISHERIES SUPPORT BUILDING BLOCK The THEMIS fisheries support building block is capable of displaying high resolution oceanography parameters (including sea surface temperature, surface and subsurface currents, variations in plankton density, thermocline, salinity, etc.) updated several times a week. Upon analysis, this data makes it possible to: Identify favorable fishing grounds, Maximize the timing and location of fishing campaigns, Keep up to date with ocean and weather conditions and forecasts to ensure the safety of oceangoing crews, Minimize fuel consumption and boost catch results (in both quantity and quality) with reliable ocean data. Identify favorable fishing grounds with oceanographic data Ensure fishermen safety with high resolution weather data Use knowledge of favorable fishing grounds to monitor vessel activity Display oceanographic data as a vertical profile to reveal upwelling cold water layers, rich in phytoplankton, an indication of favorable fishing grounds. Characterize and define targeted fishing areas by superimposing them with oceanographic data.

SEARCH AND RESCUE BUILDING BLOCK, PLANNING SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS EFFECTIVELY The Search and Rescue building block aids administrations in charge of ensuring the security of seafarers. With this application, THEMIS provides crucial data for predicting the location of a vessel and planning effective rescue operations. BENEFITS SEARCH AND RESCUE BUILDING BLOCK The Search and Rescue building block, fully compatible with IAMSAR (International Aeronautic and Maritime Search and Rescue) guidelines, is capable of using the latest position sent by the vessel s reporting system, combined with ocean current data and wind direction to simulate the most likely drift path. Two highly probable zones where the vessel could be found are identified by the application. The simulation is a crucial indicator for search and rescue professionals when planning a rescue mission. Simulate the drift path of a vessel at sea Optimize rescue operation planning Manage rescue operations with detailed, online situation reports Identify the most likely zones for the rescue operation based on the vessel s last reported position and ocean data. User-friendly interface to fill in Situation reports based on the rescue operation and also fill in the data related to a new operation.

WHY CHOOSE OUR FISHERIES MANAGEMENT SUITE ABOUT THEMIS The THEMIS system is a scalable, turnkey fisheries management solution. Powered by an Oracle database, THEMIS includes the software, hardware, installation and training necessary for operating a state-of-the-art Fisheries Monitoring Centre on a regional level. THEMIS processes data from a number of sources including VMS position reports (Iridium, Inmarsat, Argos, GPRS ), electronic logbook and shore-acquired information (AIS, coastal radar ). As an option, CLS can also provide metocean data (Sea level anomalies, sea surface temperature, sea color and salinity, currents, air pressure and wind) and satellite radar images. The different data are displayed with the THEMIS viewer, a user-friendly interface that operates with sophisticated electronic nautical charts (C-MAP ). THEMIS is capable of a number of export functions and can easily exchange data with other FMCs. All THEMIS licenses include our world-renowned customer support, maintenance, updates to adapt to new legislation and 24/7 automatic processing management. Our offers are always competitively priced and tailored to our clients needs and technical configuration.
