Nike pioneered an online product customization tool that lets customers log onto its website, choose a basic shoe type, and then go through a set of easy steps to personalize the product. Mass produced small scale products are doing this but nobody is doing it at scale with architecture. Until Cubitat. Your custom Cubitat is assembled according to your order. If architecture and our building industry evolved at the same rate as the tech and auto industries, we d live in dramatically different ways. Architecture as product rethinks our relationship to the built world. It imagines architecture as fast, not slow, and configurable, not static.

Nichetto Studio Venice, Italy, 2006 Luca Nichetto founds a multidisciplinary office specializing in Industrial Design, Product Design and Design Consultancy. From its inception the studio collaborates with many organizations, quickly expanding its influence over national borders. In 2011 the designer launches a new branch of the agency based in Stockholm, Sweden, in response to growing requests for collaboration from international companies. Nichetto s attention to detail and deep knowledge of the production process make the studio an important reference. The variety of cultural references used in every project has given the studio worldwide recognition and appreciation not limited to the design industry. In 2013 the two realities merged into Nichetto Studio, with expertise as well into Interior Design and Architecture.

Cubitat is an evolution of design work that Urban Capital has been undertaking since the late 1990s Graham Hill Cube at RC3 RIVER CITY 3 RC3, the third phase of River City, is an iconic tower in an already iconic four-phase development. Designed by Montreal based Saucier + Perrotte and consisting of in-and-out cubes, RC3 contains a number of extra large suites with glazing at one end. For these suites, Urban Capital tapped TED-talk sensation Graham Hill to design layouts centred around a cube, creating a unique flow and allowing light to penetrate to the rear of the living space. While not plug and play in the nature of Cubitat, RC3 s cubes nevertheless set Urban Capital along the road to the Cubitat you see today.

f SMART HOUSE How do you make living affordable at a high cost location like Queen and University? You design super small units micro condos but you make them feel much larger by way of innovative design. That s the idea behind Smart House. A media sensation when it was launched in late 2013, this architects Alliance and II BY IV project pressed the reset button on many aspects of condominium design, from highly efficient kitchens, to innovative European appliances (such as dishwasher drawers) and furniture that does double-duty. All precedents that we incorporated into Cubitat. CENTURY LOFTS Cubitat's origin is in fact a small warehouse conversion that Urban Capital developed for a third party way back in 1998. Called Century Lofts and designed by Oleson Worland Architects, its units were an early precedent for Cubitat: large warehouse spaces with cubes (containing all of the condominium's elements) set in the middle, defining the bedrooms behind and the living and dining areas in front.
