How to set up your Secure Email in Outlook 2010* This guide is for hosting clients who are hosting their email with us. If you are using a third party email, you should not use these instructions. 1. Open Outlook and locate the Account Settings. *The versions are pretty similar except for the first few commands. If you have an older version of Outlook or Outlook Express, look for the Tools Menu, then Accounts or Account Settings. If you have a newer version of Outlook, look under the File menu, Info, and Account Settings. NOTE: To find your Outlook version, select either Help, the About from the menu for older versions or File, Help in newer versions. The version will be listed on that page. For Outlook 2010, click the File menu, select the info tab, and click on the Account Settings box which will drop down one choice, Account Settings. 2. The Account Settings window will pop up. If your account is listed, highlight it. Locate the toolbar just above the list and click Change. Skip to Step 3. If not choose New. 3. 4. Choose Internet E-mail and click next. 5. Begin by making sure you select POP3 in the Account type drop down menu. We DO NOT support IMAP accounts. If you set up an IMAP account, you do so at your own risk. Please read What is the difference between IMAP and POP3? support@sandismith.com Copyright 2014 Page 3
6. Fill in the blanks with your information: a. Under User Information, type your Name (as you would like it to appear) b. Under User Information, type your Email Address c. Under Server Information, Incoming mail server: acc.acceleratorhosting.com d. Under Server Information, Outgoing mail server: acc.acceleratorhosting.com e. Under Logon Information, type your User Name (i.e. email@yourdomain.com) f. Under Logon Information, below User Name, type your password in allowed space Keep remember password checked. Do not check Require logon using Secure Password Authentication. Over on the right column, keep Test Account Settings checked. IMPORTANT: If you already have an Outlook data file, select Existing Outlook Data File and click browse to locate it on your PC. OTHERWISE it will look like all your emails have been deleted. (They haven t.) If you do not have any email history, choose New Outlook Data File. You will be starting from scratch. 7. 8. Choose the Outgoing Server tab and check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication option. The radio button Use same settings will automatically be selected. 9. Choose the Advanced tab. 10. Under Server Port numbers, in the Incoming server (POP3), type 995. Check This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) option. Under Server Port numbers, enter 465 in the Outgoing Server field. Next to Use the following type of encrypted connection, choose SSL from the drop-down menu Click OK. support@sandismith.com Copyright 2014 Page 5
11. You will be sent back to this window. Click next to test your Account Settings. 12. A window will pop-up to test your settings. If you get 2 green check marks, the test completed successfully. (You still need to test by sending and receiving your email.) Click Close to continue. If you do not get 2 green marks, please check your spelling and go over these instructions again. Even one field with an incorrect value will cause your email not to work. NOTE: If you get an error that says something about a local error, then Sandi forgot to set a new switch in your control panel, and you didn t do anything wrong. 13. Congratulations! You have completed your secure email set up. Click Finish to exit. 14. Please test your new email by sending and receiving your email from your Gmail or another account. 15.
