Datasheet Empirix OneSight for VoIP: Avaya Aura Communication Manager Perform. Increase visibility and ensure the availability and quality of critical communications systems. Benefits Speed the deployment of new technologies and important updates Ensure the availability of critical communications solutions Quickly pinpoint issues in complex environments Accelerate troubleshooting to cut support costs Minimize downtime and the impact on customers, partners and employees Realize the full value of technology investments Advanced RTCP and QoS Monitoring for Avaya ACM Graphical, real-time and historical QoS measurements for VoIP conversations By region, trunk, board, IP address range, network segment Mean Opinion Score (MOS, delay, jitter, packet loss and Codec Layer-3 trace route mapping (per HOP latency Configurable thresholds and alerts Bridge the Gap Between Network, Voice and IT Empirix OneSight for VoIP operates like a team of highly skilled engineers that constantly monitor and evaluate system performance to assure optimal operation and availability. It enhances visibility and focuses troubleshooting so that enterprises can fully capture the benefits of Avaya s advanced IP telephony while maintaining optimal uptime. System performance and availability are monitored in real-time. Overview Empirix OneSight for VoIP automatically discovers and inventories the system, both physical (Media Gateways, etc. and logical (Trunk Groups, Network Regions, etc.. It creates Dynamic Dependency Trees to visually depict codependent components. Multiple events, alarms and polling data are aggregated and presented in dashboards that are easily customized to meet business and technical needs. These dashboards give at-a-glance views of system health (e.g., IP phone registrations, VoIP Quality of Service (QoS and more. Outages or degradation are indicated on a dashboard and Empirix OneSight for VoIP immediately alerts the proper engineering resources for troubleshooting and remediation. Empirix OneSight for VoIP dashboards also deliver real-time utilization statistics and availability of resources (trunk groups, DSP s, etc.. Capacity and performance trending data is visible on-line by drilling down within a dashboard element or by generating weekly/monthly reports.

Card types are easily searched for upgrade planning and validation. The solution reaches into the network and identifies ACM inventory components such as cards, ports, and trunk groups. Elements can also be viewed by region and location. Each type of ACM inventory group contains a detailed list that is easy to search. Empirix OneSight for VoIP has a filter function that allows for quick return of results on specific criteria, so you can effectively retrieve information. Empirix OneSight for VoIP provides a true end-to-end view of an application, including all of its required resources and IP connectivity.

Dependency Trees Dependency Trees visually illustrate the depth and knowledge of the Avaya Aura Communication Manager. Dependency Trees map and correlate all of the resources required by a particular service or application. This correlation puts alarms in context and enables engineers to pinpoint the root cause of the alarm, making rapid trouble resolution possible. A dashboard monitor gives an immediate visual indication of an alert and its severity. These monitors show you the Effect or the affected application. Drilling down into the underlying Dependency Tree lets you narrow down and pinpoint the location of the Cause. Figure 1: The requirements of a Modular Messaging Trunk Group: a Signaling Group, C-LAN, and the Trunk Group Members. The C-LAN in turn is dependent upon its own Board Health, Port Network Chassis, Ethernet Interface Health and IP network reachability. Finally, the Chassis is dependent upon Registration to the Media Server, its IPSI(s, Packet Interface, Tone Clocks and Power Supplies. Figure 2: A failed C-LAN. Should this occur, the support staff will be alerted with not only the specific board failure, but the business impact in this instance, Modular Messaging is impacted because Trunk Group 57 is down. Alarms have context and show how the business and users are affected. Metrics Empirix OneSight for VoIP delivers graphical, real-time and historical metrics on: Media Servers (including ESS & LSP: Processor Health Static Occupancy System Maintenance Occupancy Call Processing Occupancy Idle Registrations Media Gateways: DSP Utilization Chassis Health (fan, hardware, etc. Power Supply Status Power Status Port Networks TDM Timeslot Usage C-LAN Registrations Real-time Trunk Utilization MedPro: Utilization Trunk Groups: Utilization Network Regions: Inter-Region Usage Real-time Historical Utilization Registration Map Empirix OneSight for VoIP automatically generates a visual depiction of gateway to server registrations. This map links media gateways to their controlling media server and immediately indicates a network fracture or media server failure. For larger networks, this information is available in a tabular format. Gateway to Server Registration

Reporting Reports can be scheduled to run weekly or monthly, and can be delivered via e-mail. The following real-time data is available from the solution: C-LAN/Processor-Ethernet Registration Utilization DSP Utilization MedPro and Media Gateway Event Report Hardware Inventory Phone QOS Suspect Endpoints QoS Summary QoS Detail Processor Utilization Security Failed Logins Service Level Availability Traffic Measurement Total Voice Stream by Alarm Threshold per Hour Trunk Group Utilization TDM Timeslot Utilization Total Voice Stream Duration by Threshold per Hour

Steady State Functionality Empirix OneSight for VoIP s functionality extends well beyond break/fix, including: Trending and Capacity Planning: Historical reporting will indicate utilization trends and identify over/under-capacity, including Trunks, MedPro/ DSP resources, C-LAN sockets, etc. List Trace History Empirix OneSight for VoIP enhances Avaya s List Trace functionality by allowing multiple responders to simultaneously view a List Trace as it runs, and previously executed traces are not lost when another trace is run. They are saved and easily recalled for comparison and review. Traces may also be exported. This screen shot shows the station trace type. The list of options is extensive, with a number of the selections provided below: Upgrade Planning: Active Discovery creates and maintains up-to-date system inventory (Hardware and Firmware versions included. Degradation Reporting and Historical Data: Identifies performance trends. This empowers your staff to be proactive and anticipate faults. Examples of data that indicate potentially imminent faults: Higher Processor Utilization C-LAN Socket Utilization DSP Resource Utilization Phone/Gateway Registration Events Slower Response Times LSP and ESS Inventory and Health Avaya provides multiple levels of redundancy, and powerful disaster recovery functionality; however, the distributed nature of key redundant components challenges even the most technically savvy teams. Enterprise networks with multiple LSPs and ESSs are particularly challenging. End-to-end Performance Monitoring Empirix OneSight for VoIP monitors Avaya ACM as part of a complete, end-to-end solution capable of analyzing customer experience and network performance, by application, in real-time. It provides important intelligence on related elements, services and functions; relationships and functional dependencies and context within a Converged Voice and Data Network. In this way, Empirix helps companies quickly pinpoint the source of issues and provides the tools needed to evaluate, address and remediate outages pertaining to connection brokers, file transfers and socket tunnels. Most importantly, it provides real-time alerts to help companies minimize the impact that unexpected technology failures can have on customers, partners and employees.
