2 Welcome to our Short and Leisure ADULT LEARNING GUIDE For over forty years Exeter College has been successfully providing part time, short and leisure courses for adults living in Exeter and the wider Devon area. You can develop different interests, enjoy hobbies, make new friends and reach your potential, whether that is in Cake Decorating or Pilates. To find out more information about each course go to our website www.exe-coll.ac.uk/adults If you do not have a computer, many community centres and your local libraries may be able to help or call into our receptions and they can show you the information. Fill in an enrolment or application form by downloading it from our website or pick one up from one of our receptions or community libraries. There may be some additional items that you will need to bring to a course. This will be stated on the full course information on our website. Please note, we are adding new courses throughout the year keep checking our website. Please note: if a course states None there is no reduced fee available. ow to apply and pay for your course It is important that you apply and pay for your course at least one week before the course starts to ensure that you will have access to all the facilities and resources in your first week. You will need to bring photographic ID with you, please contact us if you have any queries. Please note that the fees are shown as correct at the time of print but may change. We cannot take payments at any of our community venues. If your employer is paying for your course please download the Employer Payment form on our website or ask for this form from our receptions. To apply for these courses you will need to be aged 19 or above on 31st August 2015. If you are studying at any of our Exeter College sites, you will need to wear your photo ID badge whilst on college premises. You will need to collect the badge in person as it will also contain your log in details for any online materials and resources for your course. Badges can be obtained from ele Road reception or a learning centre approximately one week after your enrolment.

4 Learning support If you have a physical, sensory or specific learning difficulty that you would like to discuss before starting your course, we would be very pleased to hear from you. You may, however, feel that we could be doing something better. The college is always pleased to receive compliments and positive feedback as well as constructive criticism. The college takes complaints seriously and has a formal procedure in place. If you feel that a concern has not been resolved to your satisfaction by your lecturer, then please request a complaints form. Your complaint will then be formally dealt with and addressed by college managers. If you wish to send us a comment or complaint, please go to the college website and search complaints to view the Complaints Procedure which is located in the About the College section of the website. Alternatively, contact reception for a copy of the procedure. Learning centres Exeter College has seven award winning learning centres to support students with their studies. WiFi is accessible college wide and each learning centre is equipped with books, PCs, study desks, journals, DVDs, access to the library catalogue, and equipment to support accessibility. The wide range of e-resources (including e-books, e-journals, databases and on-demand media) is available 24 hours a day, on or off campus, and specialist software is available in each centre to support specific subject areas. You will need your ID badge to access IT and Learning Centre resources (see page 3). Friendly and supportive learning centre staff are always ready to help with library enquiries, basic IT support, information searches, referencing, password resets, printing, copying, binding, laminating and scanning and all aspects of the learning centres services and facilities. The Centre for Creative Industries (CCI) hosts a fully digital TV studio, two Apple Mac suites, a broad range of media equipment to borrow (including DV cameras, digital stills and audio equipment) and a shop with stationery basics and art supplies. Curriculum support is available, to help with editing and using the TV studio, from experienced staff. Subject librarians work in each learning centre to deliver inductions, advanced Information Literacy sessions and 1:1 support on request. They have an extensive knowledge of the resources held internally and externally and work closely with the teaching staff to ensure students have access to high quality learning resources. Course cancellations and refunds You will get a refund if you have already paid for a course: which we have to cancel which we agree with you is not suitable after initial assessment and cannot offer you an alternative Please refer to our full refund policy on our website. Reduced fees If you are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) in the Work Related Activity Group (WRAG) you may be entitled to pay the reduced fee for the course. You must show evidence of your benefit to reception staff when you apply. This can be an official letter (less than one month old at the start date of the course) showing that you are in receipt of the benefit. Overseas students who have not lived in the European Union/EEA for three years or who need a visa to study in the country will need to pay international fees (depending on immigration status there are some exemptions). Please contact reception for details. Some of our courses are free of charge and are therefore very popular, often with a waiting list. If you are enrolled on one of these and unable to attend, please let the college know in good time, so that someone else might benefit from your place.

5 Art, Design, Media and Craft You could try pottery, photography, stained glass or try one of our art taster courses. Courses are offered at many venues so you can find somewhere to suit you. 6 I really enjoyed my Photography Improvers - Digital course and I had a very knowledgeable and inspirational tutor. Most of all, I enjoyed being given the assignments each week and sharing our pictures. I also really enjoyed the session we spent in the studio - that was hugely beneficial. Devon and Exeter Construction Training Centre is easily reached from J30 of the M5. Follow the signs to Sowton Industrial Estate, turn in to Moor Lane and left in to Kestrel Way. The Technology Centre at Monkerton is reached from J29 of the M5. Turn right at the junction, right at the roundabout passing the Met Office on your left, across two roundabouts and the Technology Centre is on your right. By RAIL Exeter St David s and Exeter Central stations are within walking distance of all city centre college sites. Exeter Central station is opposite the Victoria ouse and Centre for Creative Industries (CCI) buildings.
