Sample, demonstration Installation process `Inclination Monitor Software V 3.1` This installation process is valid for further `Inclination Monitor Software V 3.x ` and higher versions. Successful Setup 3 Inclination Monitor Program 3.1 Connecting inclinometer Connect the inclinometer module with the connection kit to your PC or Notebook. 3.2 Start Start InclinationMonitor_V_3_x.exe in the file system or start the program by using the icon InclinationMonitor ` on the desktop. 3.3 Select series Select the adequate `Sensor Type`(NS-xx/DMG2, NS-xx/Px, NS-xx/DPx2-x or NS-xx/DPx CAN ). NS-xx/DMG2 supports the following sensors: NS-5/DMG2-U, NS-5/DMG2-I, NS-5/DMG2-PWM, NS-5/DMG2-S NS-15/DMG2-U, NS-15/DMG2-I, NS-15/DMG2-PWM, NS-15/DMG2-S NS-30/DMG2-U, NS-30/DMG2-I, NS-30/DMG2-PWM, NS-30/DMG2-S NS-xx/Px supports the following sensors: NS-5/P, NS-5/P2, NS-5/PI NS-15/P, NS-15/P2, NS-15/PI NS-45/P, NS-45/P2, NS-45/PI NS-xx/DPx2-x supports the following sensors: NS-10/PL2-S, NS-15/PL2-S NS-xx/DPN2-RXX series (+/-2,5,10,15,30 ) NS-xx/DPG2-RXX series (+/-2,5,10,15,30 ) NS-xx/DPx2-CAN is under construction. 4 Monitoring for DMG2-Series 4.1 COM-Interface Select the COM Port, (e.g. COM 4) and press the button Connect F1 or press the control key F1. 4.2 Start Information After choosing the right COM port the button connected `will appear in green next to the menu together with some additional parameter information e.g.: Type of sensor: NS-30/DMG2-U COM Settings: 9600,e,8,1 Serial number of inclinometer : 0817037 Hardware version of inclinometer: 04.3 Software version of inclinometer: 02.3 Notice: This information is valid for the NS-xx/DMG2 sensors which has the firmware version higher than 2.2. NS-xx/DMG2 with SW 2.1 or lower does not have any filtering on board. NS-xx/Px and NS-xx/PL2 series sensors provide no data for serial number, hardware and software version. 4.3 Baud Rate Setting To change the baud rate, select the field Baud Rate. Following baud rate settings are available: 2400 baud 4800 baud 9600 baud (default value) 19200 baud 38400 baud 57600 baud Choice the baud rate, e.g. 57600` baud. 4.4 Start Measuring The measurement will be started automatically. A new window will open showing a red point representing the presently measured inclination angle. Below the diagram you get the detailed value [ = deg.] for the x-axis and the y-axis e.g. angle x: -00.290 and angle y: -00.255. 4.5 Stop Measuring Please choose the button Stop Measuring or press the control key F5 Result: Hauert 13, D-44227 Dortmund, Germany 11 of 45 fax: +49-(0)231-9740-20
4.6 Record File Measurement values can be logged into a data file. Please select in the window set record file the button Select File. Create a file-name e.g. test inclinometer.txt and save this file. The values will be saved in a name.txt-text file. Record file start break - stop Start record file If a record file is available the button Start Record will be changed into bright green. By pressing the button ` Start Record recording can be done. The button Start Record will flash. Break record file To pause recording press the button break. The last values will be saved. By starting the record again, the values will be saved to the same file again after the old values. During pause, the button Break is flashing. 4.7 Zero Setting With the procedure set zero ` the current position can set to zero. The zero point can be entered if the current angle is between -3 < x < + 3. The command will be ignored if the angle is outside this range. 4.9 Digital Filtering The digital filtering allows damping the shock and vibration during the measurement. The parameter offer settings between 2 up to 40 and a step range of 1. Please select the button `filter setting It is possible to set filter parameters called moving average and exponential. The combination of both parameters offers the best result to get an optimized damping filter during the operating in an application. 4.12 RS232 Overflow The unit offers values which are limited to 110% of the measurement range or an unlimited measurement range, around >10 to 25% more range than the specified range. Please select the button switch to max.110 % for changing the RS232 overflow into the measurement range maximum of 110 %. If the angle moves higher than 110% to full scale ( e.g.+/-30 ), an overflow value for x-axis ----- and y-axis ----- to the negative angle range or a value for x-axis +++++ and y-axis +++++ to the positive angle range will be displayed. 4.13 Switch / Hysteresis Setting This item is valid for units with switch output signal only! If the unit with switch out is connected, NS-xx/DMG2-S, it will be displayed automatically the window `switch setting. To change the setting parameters please select the first button `Set` for the x-switch angle or the second button `Set` y-switch angle. This value is valid for the + and - direction. 5 Monitoring for P-series 5.1 Select type Select the adequate `Sensor Type` NS-xx/Px` 5.2 COM-Interface Select the sensor unit e.g. NS-45/P2. Hauert 13, D-44227 Dortmund, Germany 30 of 45 fax: +49-(0)231-9740-20
Select the COM Port, (e.g. COM 1) and press the button Connect F1 or press the control key F1. Default value of baud rate for the P-series is 2400. 5.4 Continuous Polling Mode To change the continuous mode into polling mode, please stop the measurement, select button `Stop measuring` press `F5`, select button `connect `or `F1`, select button `Polling Mode` and select button `Start measuring or `F5`. 6 Monitoring for DPx2-series 6.1 Select sensor type, NS-xx/DPx2 Following units will be supported: NS-xx/DPL2-X, NS-xx/DPN2-X, NS-xx/DPG2-x 6.1.1 Com-Interface Select the COM Port, (e.g. COM 1) and press the button Connect F1 or press the control key F1. 6.1.2 Start information After choosing the right COM port the button connected `will appear in green next to the menu together with some additional parameter-information e.g.: Type of sensor: DPL2 - series COM Settings: 9600,e,8,1 Serial number of inclinometer : 081800201 Software version of inclinometer: 1.8.3 Additional, select the `maximum display range` to get the optimal size of display. 6.2 Additional All parametes which will be changed in the inclinometer system will be saved internal ee-prom. If the inclinometer will be removed from the power supply the parameter will be saved. A reset of all parameter to the manufacture setting has to be done to reset the single paramenter steps. 6.3 Start Measuring The measurement will be started automatically. A new window will open showing a red point representing the presently measured inclination angle. Below the diagram you get the detailed value [ = deg.] for the x-axis and the y-axis e.g. angle x: -01.900 and angle y: -00.160.
