Bachelor's Degree in Dentistry An academic programme offering great promise for your professional career The Faculty of Dentistry in the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya trains professionals to become capable of dealing with the prevention, the treatment and rehabilitation of oral and dental diseases based on sound criteria and technical skill. The solid academic education provided in the Faculty is complemented by intensive practical experience in the University Dental Clinic from the first year onwards. The UIC's Faculty of Dentistry is located on our Sant Cugat campus, on the ground floor of the Hospital General de Catalunya. The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences can also be found on this campus, as well as a wide variety of postgraduate, master's and doctoral programmes related to these areas. I later realised that I had acquired a high standard of clinical training here and we now continue to work towards improving this." Guillermo Doria Alumni class of 2005 and UIC lecturer

Characteristics of the Bachelor's Degree in Dentistry The keys to our difference Practical training Practical experience is essential in terms of educating our students, not only because it allows them to put into practice all the knowledge they have learned in class, but also because professional dentists are provided to act as their tutors. Facilities Students are able to enjoy facilities equipped with cutting-edge technology so that they can take full advantage of their practical training. Resources 5 booths for dental practice, booths for specialised surgical clinics and two booths that are adapted for special patients. They are all equipped with x-ray machines and an internet connection so that x-rays can be checked online. An integrated television screen to broadcast operations. Two diagnosis rooms with image recognition facilities, where orthopantomograms can be carried out, as well as lateral and frontal teleradiographies of the skull where there is also a system for collecting images, and CT scans. Electronic storage in order to deliver and collect material. Service to sterilise the tools and equipment used. Prosthetic laboratory for student s practicums. Prosthetic laboratory for continuous education courses (on prosthetics, endodontics, and aesthetics, etc). Research and innovation laboratory. Endodontic microscopes. An ossuary and dissection laboratory. Latest generation infrastructure that has recently arrived in the dental sector, such as the acquisition of an i-cat cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) machine and others obtained through usage provided by important commercial companies, complement and help to achieve good teaching quality and care in our University Dental Clinic (CUO). Inclusion into the labour market Knowledge and mastery of instrumental skills by students is fundamental in order to ensure their inclusion into the labour market. Therefore, in the Faculty of Dentistry, as well as clinical experience, students have access to simulation laboratories and classrooms for learning and assessment that are provided with the latest generation equipment. Specialisation For a dentist it is essential to receive full and comprehensive training as a professional, and for that reason the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya offers university master's degrees, 9 UIC-specific master's degrees, 8 clinical residencies and more than 20 continuing education programmes.

Lecturers and professionals Dr. Miguel Roig Director of the Area of Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics In a labour market that is so competitive, only good quality can prosper. That is why I think that studying dentistry at the UIC is a great investment. Dr. Federico Hernández-Alfaro Director of the Area of Oral Medical-Surgical Pathologies and Implantology I have been lucky enough to be able to surround myself with people who are better than me. This ensures that I am constantly challenged and motivated to improve.

Dr. José Nart Director of the Area of Periodontics From the first day onwards it has always been a pleasure to teach dentistry at the UIC. All of the lecturers share the objective of improving the quality of dentistry in our country, and teach based on scientific evidence in three different languages. Dr. Andreu Puigdollers Director of the Area of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics "The experience of teaching is a privilege when it is done with enthusiasm and you can feel an enthusiasm for learning. This privilege is made evident not only through the student's learning, but also through the personal and professional enrichment we all experience."

"Over the years I've learned that effort, perseverance and determination are rewarded. Once we are finished we will have to put everything we have learned here into practice." Paloma Albert "The UIC offers many international opportunities and has a work placement programme which means that you are in contact with patients from the beginning of your degree programme. This is something that has helped me to deal with people and learn how to talk to them in the field of healthcare. Alex Esteban The UIC, a unique experience Studying at the UIC involves taking part in the UIC experience. This goes beyond the degree you're doing, it goes beyond the facilities and equipment. The cornerstones of university life at the UIC are built on the people who study, work and interact in the university facilities, creating links which establish a unique world. In the UIC we offer you conferences, university-business connections, theatre groups, literary competitions and an endless list of sports, cultural and social activities which create spaces for both reflection and leisure. All of these activities are necessary for learning, personal growth and creating social links which ensure that we make up a many-coloured community. The UIC experience is both enriching and dynamic.

"The interest and warmth shown to me by the lecturers, the strong practical approach and contact with patients has meant that every day I have become more enthusiastic, had a greater desire to learn and an increased interest in dentistry." Lucía Córdoba "In the Faculty we learn new things every day, not only at an academic level but also as people."
