Course Program Course description Details Admission Process To apply for the LDU China Pathway Program, submit the following documentation: A completed and signed application form High school graduate diploma and high school transcript or high school on-studying certificate Registration fee payment receipt The above documentation must be sent to the following e-mail address: pathway@laureatedesign.com Upon receipt of the required documents, your submitted application will be evaluated for admission into the LDU China Pathway program. Once admission is confirmed, you will receive a letter of admission. In order to secure your place in the program, you are required to pay the tuition fee in full 30 days from receiving the admissions letter. Payment must be received no later than the start of the course. Applicants will also be required to complete an English proficiency test to verify achievement of the 2.5 IELTS level required for admission to the program. English Language Course 500 hours The LDU China Pathway Program includes intensive English language courses that will help you develop the academic language skills required for admission to undergraduate studies in any of the four LDU art and design institutions. Courses are provided through Shanghai International Fashion Education Center (SIFEC) which is well-known for preparing China s young future leaders. The English Language course includes 500 hours of instruction: 120 for English Module 1 (basic level: from 2.5 to IELTS 3.5) + 150 for English Module 2 (intermediate: from IELTS 3.5 to IELTS 4.0) + 230 for English Module 3 (advanced: from IELTS 4.0 to IELTS 5.5/6.0). Students spend time in class with international English language teachers who focus on improving students speaking and listening skills expanding grammar and vocabulary range. The course also develops academic reading and writing skills. Your progress is regularly assessed through periodical tests in addition to a final test. Art and Design Workshops 80 hours A series of four workshops (20 hours each) will expose you to the fundamentals of various art and design approaches and disciplines. In these workshops, you will complete several mini-projects which will enrich your project portfolio and help you determine which field of study most appeals to you. Classroom teaching features both digitalbased and hand-based activities, giving you broad exposure to the methods of producing creative projects. A final evaluation will assess your progress. Portfolio Preparation 24 hours This practical workshop teaches you the approaches needed to bring basic art and design projects to life research, creativity, methods, and output. You will work on several mini-projects to enrich your portfolio while you acquire fundamental skills in project realization. Classroom teaching includes both hands-on and virtual based instruction. Your progress in the course will be assessed through a final portfolio and admission test evaluation. Computer Graphics Course 24 hours This practical workshop trains you to use basic graphic software such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. You will work on several mini-projects to enrich your portfolio and reinforce basic computer graphic skills. Your progress and proficiency are assessed through a final evaluation. Western Culture 20 hours This theory-based course will help you develop an understanding of Western Culture. Classroom teaching, conducted by international experts, provides an overview of main western art and design works and movements while expanding your vocabulary range. Your progress will be regularly assessed through tests. Admission Test During the last week of the program you will take the admission test for your chosen LDU institution. The test is an entry assessment intended to understand your motivation and attitude in undertaking the chosen program. You will be asked to submit your portfolio of projects. Moving Forward As you reach the completion of the LDU China Pathway Program, you can select your international study destination from within the Laureate Design Universities network. The LDU network offers a wide variety of programs and experiences that will help prepare you for a fulfilling career in the creative industries. The final week of the program concludes with an admissions test for your chosen school. Successful completion of this test along with your student portfolio will put you on your way to earning an undergraduate degree in art or design from one of our international universities!
