INTRO Luc Roymans (Antwerp, 1977) graduated at the department of Photography at the school for Audiovisual Techniques in Antwerp. After going through a variety of photographic ranges, he chose specifically to focus on and specialise in interior design photography. Learning different aspects from every range, he was able to apply this knowledge and develop his own style. Although it s difficult to represent the thing you love the most, Luc found a way to combine his vision on photography with the world of interior design. His international client base consists mainly of magazines, publishers, architects, interior designers, big companies & small businesses, and many more...

04

RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR For every residential type I have a different approach. Modern interior photography Composition, light and experimental camera positions are used to get a dynamic effect. I like to relate to rules of composition as formal structures. I need a few rules to work with, although rules are also there to be broken. The process is almost like a mathematical equation; it s a constant defining and redefining of the perfect composition of lines, light and colors.

06

Classic interior photography My primary focus is the creative atmosphere. By framing I exclude any factor that doesn t add to the composition. The moods reproduced by the textures, materials and light are as important as the forms and lines.

08 Lifestyle photography I combine motion and daily life material to add the element of life, without taking away the focus of the architecture or design. The main focus stays on the interior, where the adding of people, pets or household objects gets a supportive role.

10 Detail photography With dedicated equipment, depth of field is optimally used to make the subject really stand out. These kind of shots are usually made to complement and finalise a general shoot. As a freelance photographer I work for a variety of international interior design magazines.

COMMERCIAL INTERIOR Commercial interiors are mostly done on assignment for publicity purposes of the client (website, brochure...). A successful shoot is the result of a collaborative effort between client and photographer. Through consultation we achieve to find the answer to the following question: What do you want the images to say about your firm, project, vision, product, talent or services?

12

In a possible mixture of interior, exterior and reportage, I present a full visual package based on the clients requirements.

14

16

NATURE & REPORTAGE In both fields, the photographs should speak for themselves. By blending in and trying to be as invisible as possible I want to avoid external influences on the subject as much as possible. This allows me to capture natural, unprovoked behaviour from the subject. A special set of equipment is used to achieve this (f.e. extreme telelenses, fast digital cameras...). The ultimate aim is to get close to the subject on both a visual and an emotional level. These are the images that shouldn t need words or an explanation. Reportages are normally shot on commission for magazines or corporations.

18

PRICING & TECHNICAL INFORMATION Pricing is individually calculated for every assignment. In general, I start with a half day or day price. After consultation with the client about their specific requirements, I can calculate a precise and fixed price. Projects will be shot digitally with high resolution Nikon equipment and processed on Apple computers. Thanks to this fully digital workflow, I can work fast and accurate. On special request I can also shoot in medium or large format. All efforts will be made to do a follow up with your designated graphic designer and printer to achieve an optimal final result. Images will be delivered on cd, dvd or through ftp on your designated server. Both high and low res images will be handed to the client. Unless stated differently, clients will receive shared copyright on all delivered images.
