1 MISSION VALLEY REGIONAL OCCUPATION PROGRAM COMPUTER GRAPHICS DESIGN COURSE OUTINE 1. Course Title: Motion Graphics (Selected Studies) 2. CBEDS Title: Graphic Communications 3. CBEDS Number: Job Titles/DOT Codes: Entry Level: Graphic Designer Illustrator Commercial Designer Package Designer Computer Typesetter, Keyliner Desktop Publisher Technical Level: Printer Photographer, Lithographic Camera Operator, Television Professional Level: Computer Operator Printer Operator (photo finishing) Graphic Arts Technician Graphic Designer Production Manager, Reproduction Director, Broadcast Teacher, Vocational Training Course Description: This is a one-year, 20 unit, entry-level course. Classes meet daily at the MVROP Center for 2 hours per day. Study includes; Adobe Photoshop is used for basic design concepts, and layout techniques, as well as the creation of original artwork, photo manipulation, texture maps & image compositing. Adobe After Effects is used in conjunction with Photoshop and other bit-mapped graphics applications and introduces students to animation techniques and processes. Adobe Illustrator (a drawing application) study includes the creation of original posters, magazine and CD covers. Adobe Flash is explored for basic animation techniques and to create web capable portfolios for online purposes. All students are required to prepare working portfolio s to showcase their year s work. Throughout the year, team activities are planned and work ethics (as well as critical thinking) are discussed, demonstrated, encouraged, and rewarded. 1

Use computers to process information and apply visual presentation of ideas. C. Research, compile, and complete written documents assigned. IV. SAFETY STANDARDS
