Quarterly Meeting Hosney Abdelgelil, Stephen Thomson and live internet Kimon Onuma gave a presentation on BIM Building Information Modeling and the Building SMART alliance. In addition to the many private organizations, the Cost Guard, US General Services Administration, and the Army Corp of Engineers are three government agencies that are heavily involved in BIM. Hosney and Stephen and Kimon, talked about the upcoming BIM Storm 2009 sponsored by the NY Metro chapter of the Building Smart Alliance. A BIM Storm is an event in which building professionals get together via the internet, to transform (virtually) an entire neighborhood. One such BIM storm brought together 133 individuals from Boston, Maryland, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Japan, the Netherlands, and the Philippines for 24 hours to simulate the design of transforming 60 blocks of Los Angeles, over 54,755,000 square feet, all without any of the participants leaving their seats. The NY Metro Building SMART alliance would like to recruit the NYIEC in participating in the upcoming BIM Storm. The next quarterly

meeting will be hosted by the NYC School Construction Authority and the NYC Department of Design and Construction. We plan on a follow up to this BIM presentation. If you are interested in attending this presentation, please contact your NYIEC delegate. Annual Luncheon The annual luncheon is held in November at the Union League Club in midtown Manhattan.
