The Finnish way of innovation During our study tour in Finland, we followed several courses in disruptive innovation, industry renewal, new business models and strategy at Tampere University of Technology. After, we visited several actors of Finnish innovation ecosystem: EIT ICT Labs in Espoo, the laboratories of the School of Arts and Design of the Aalto University in Helsinki, and the New Factory in Tampere. The labs cover a very wide range of research and innovation areas: future cloud, future networking solutions, urban life and mobility, health and wellbeing, smart energy systems, smart spaces. Our visit to Tekes the government agency dedicated to innovation and located in Helsinki was a key point to understand how to sponsor innovative projects in a country where the amount of R&D spending is ranked 3rd in the world. In a country where the R&D spends volume shares are ranked the 3rd in the world. We also met several directors of innovative firms such as Huawei, F Secure, Futurice Ltd, Nokia Ltd and Cargotec, and last but not least, the designer of the game Angry Birds!
