Appendix 3 to Station(s) Comprising Station Employment Unit: WKAQ, WKAQ-FM, WUKQ AND WUKQ- FM, WYEL-AM Section 3: Supplemental (Non-Vacancy Specific) Recruitment Activities Undertaken by WKAQ, WKAQ-FM, WUKQ, WUKQ-FM and WYEL-AM On April 28 th 2008, we participated in a job fair hosted by Univision Puerto Rico at the University of El Sagrado Corazón. This event had job and career pavilions from several employers in PR. Information regarding employment in the broadcasting industry was offered to all participants and interested employment candidates. In the UNIVISION Radio PR booth, we received resumes of interested candidates. The booth was manned by the Human Resources Manager and Department Managers, all with hiring authority. The public was encouraged to participate in the job fair through on air announcements on the Univision radio and television stations and the participating University. On May 9 th, 2008, Univision Radio Puerto Rico, Inc. Human Resources Manager, Leslie A. Sierra, presented a seminar and training session for Univision Puerto Rico radio managers and supervisors about basic employment practices and FCC EEO guidelines in our offices in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. Attendees to this meeting were all supervisors, managers and department heads for the stations that have hiring authority. The session provided training to management level personnel responsible for ensuring the station s compliance to the FCC s EEO Rules regarding methods of ensuring equal employment opportunities and preventing discrimination. Other management topics were also addressed. On August 15 th, 2008 we hosted a job fair at el Cobian s Plaza in the San Juan Area. This event had a job and career pavilion which included more than fifteen (15) private employers. Trainings and information regarding employment in the broadcasting industry was offered to all participants and interested employment candidates. In UNIVISION Radio PR, Inc. booth we distributed notices of current employment opportunities and received resumes of interested candidates. The booth was manned by the Human Resources Manager and Department Managers. The public was encouraged to participate in the job fair through on air announcements on the Univision radio stations, as well as newspapers advertisements. We continue with the outreach initiative of the community group named Prensa Comunitaria, which is actively involved in broadcast employment issues as well as media and communications issues for underprivileged towns around the island to promote social development through the dissemination of constructive information and creation of jobs. Department Managers and Personalities of our radio stations have participated in the workshops and have trained the different communities in providing tools to develop techniques that need to be applied in employment in broadcasting and media communication. Prensa Comunitaria also has an on air program on WKAQ 580AM as a public service for the community which airs every 3 rd Sunday of the month for 1 hour. The distribution of the program helps reach out to all communities and promote the effort in training regarding different topics such as what is social media, how to conduct an interview, photography, news values, how to write a press release, news editing, photo essays, among others. With these outreach initiatives the stations have completed three of the required initiatives for the two year period. 5
