1 Imprtant infrmatin The fllwing specificatins fr practix are a guideline prvided fr custmers and IT service prviders t determine the hardware and third party sftware requirements. Cnsultatin with a CSC representative and yur IT supplier will ensure hardware specificatins are designed fr yur particular practice. Please nte this dcument is nly a guide t the specificatins recmmended by CSC. Als nte, any new versins f sftware nt stated in the specificatins has nt been tested with practix and we may nt be able t install r supprt practix r assciated prducts CSC is a sftware services prvider and is nt an IT prvider fr yur netwrk. CSC will supprt the practix applicatin hwever any ther issues including netwrking, permissins, backups and security are the respnsibility f yur chsen IT prvider. Prir t the installatin f practix fr a new client, the CSC Slutin Lead will prvide and require an IT checklist t be cmpleted. Please fax r email this checklist t the attentin f the Slutin Lead as the scheduling and implementatin f practix will nt cmmence until this checklist is received and apprved by CSC. 2 IT Specificatins The fllwing is a guide t the minimum specificatins by CSC. Java Runtime Envirnment versin 1.4.2.17 Required fr Medicare Online sftware Internet Explrer 8 r 9 - All PCs ehealth functinality (PCEHR, SHS, IHI) requires the fllwing: Server - 1Ghz minimum prcessr (2 Ghz r higher recmmended) Server - MS Windws Server/Small Business Server 2003 r Windws Server/Small Business Server 2008 R2 Server - Java SE 6 (update 26 r higher) All PCs SOAP Tlkit (sapsdk.exe installed) 2.5 Unsupprted Systems/Envirnments The fllwing envirnments are unsupprted either by practix r a third party applicatin such as Medicare Online. Windws Server 2012 Windws 8 althugh nt certified as yet there have been n reprted issues with practix and related functins in this envirnment. Until certificatin is achieved any issues due t Windws 8 will be investigated and reprted t the practix develpment team. Thin Client envirnment - this includes Citrix, RDP and Terminal Services. practix is nt certified fr supprt in virtual server envirnments and n assurance is given that practix can be installed and run withut issue n these envirnments. Althugh nt certified, practix is running in these envirnments hwever issues are fund, investigated and reprted t the practix develpment team fr pssible future changes t be incrprated int practix. Virtual Servers r VMware - n assurance is given that practix can be installed and run withut issue in these envirnments. There are n utstanding reprted issues in this envirnment. If any issues are fund they are investigated and reprted t the practix develpment team fr pssible future changes t be incrprated int practix. Wireless Netwrks Page 5 f 11
3 Backup Recmmendatins CSC is nt respnsible fr data backups which shuld be setup and managed by yur preferred IT services prvider. CSC recmmends clients shuld have a daily backup regime in place incrprating all the data created by the CSC practix applicatin. Since the ultimate respnsibility fr the quality and reliability f the backup lies with the client and their chsen hardware prvider, a slutin the client and hardware supplier are cmfrtable with shuld be chsen. Please be aware CSC is nt respnsible fr the backup f the system data in any way. It is the respnsibility f the client t arrange fr a qualified persn (nrmally the IT supplier) t cnfigure and maintain the backup systems. The infrmatin prvided is a guide and is in n way all-inclusive and shuld nt be cnsidered t be 'instructins' n hw t backup yur system. CSC recmmends the nminated cmpetent persn perfrms a test restre n a regular basis t ensure that the backup system is wrking prperly and that relevant practice staff members are trained by that cmpetent persn in hw t check that the backup system is functining crrectly. CSC Sftware Supprt is happy t prvide any additinal infrmatin regarding the data strage f ur systems t yur designated backup supplier t assist them in prviding yu with a backup strategy that is apprpriate fr yur circumstances. Please cntact the Supprt Team via email n HG-iRespnse@csc.cm 3.1 SQL Server Data The CSC applicatin uses Micrsft SQL Server t manage its databases. In mst instances, these databases are mspdata, msplcal and mspref. All three f these databases will need t be backed up. There are knwn issues surrunding the backing up f SQL database files while they are attached t a Micrsft SQL Server via traditinal means. Our recmmended slutin fr this is t use backup sftware capable f backing up the SQL databases. Please verify with the backup sftware vendr if the sftware yu are cnsidering t use is capable f backing up SQL databases. The ther slutin is t exprt the databases frm SQL int a frm that can be backed up via traditinal means. This can be achieved either thrugh SQL r thrugh the database exprt functin in practix. If perfrmed thrugh practix, this functin shuld be perfrmed manually thrugh the main practix applicatin. Thugh this task can be scheduled thrugh practix, it is NOT recmmended that this be relied upn t perfrm the exprt. 3.2 Attachments t the Database (eg Wrd dcuments, scanned images) In additin t the databases, practix stres files externally t the databases which will als need t be backed up. At a minimum, the entire cntents (including subdirectries) f MSPDATA n the server must be backed up (In additin t the abve SQL databases). It is ur recmmendatin the entire server s MSP directry is backed up. Page 6 f 11
4 Preferred Cnfiguratin 4.1 Netwrk Cnnectins All wrkstatins require a mapped netwrk drive t the shared mspdata flder n the primary server (preferably L:\ & R:\). Users als require full access permissin t the mspdata share. 4.2 ODBC Drivers Each wrkstatin shuld have the mst recent available versin f ODBC drivers installed fr Micrsft SQL Server. 4.3 User Accunt Cntrl Windws 7 wrkstatins require User Accunt Cntrl (UAC) turned ff as practix may nt functin with this feature turned n. 4.4 Internet Access 4.5 Printers Medicare On-line requires internet access frm any PC it is t be used frm. Additinally CSC remte supprt utility (Bmgar) requires internet access. It is highly recmmended that all PCs have internet access fr bth f these tasks. Multi Tray Printers - Fr practix purpses a multi tray printer requires a printer driver installed fr each tray they will be printing t. Als in the printing preferences, the apprpriate tray needs t be selected fr the driver e.g. Driver: Tray1. Printing preferences: Tray1 etc. Single Tray Printers. A driver needs t be installed and set as the Windws default printer. 4.6 Display Settings Wrkstatin displays must be cnfigured fr at least 800x600 in high clur mde althugh higher reslutins are highly recmmended. Wrkstatins using the Health Recrds mdule are highly recmmended t run at 1024x768 r higher. Page 7 f 11
5 Other Requirements (detailed) 5.1 Netwrking / Security The installatin and cnfiguratin f a functinal and secured netwrk are whlly the respnsibility f the practice and their IT persnnel. Fr the purpses f practix, CSC assumes that the netwrk, servers, and ther cmpnents utside f practix have been cnfigured and are functinal, and that all users have been granted rights apprpriate t their requirements. Due t the amunt f data transfer, we recmmend at least a 100Mbps netwrk. The ultimate requirement is fr the netwrk cnfiguratin t allw us t: Map a netwrk drive n every PC t the server (and have full cntrl f files via the mapped drive) Create ODBC cnnectins t the SQL Server n the server (and be able t successfully run the ODBC administratrs Test data surce functin) Access shared flders n the server (mspdata) using UNC pathnames (i.e. \\servername\mspdata) frm any cmputer (and full cntrl via the UNC path) Be permanently cnnected allwing autmated after-hurs prcesses t run, imprving perfrmance f in-hurs peratins. 5.2 Firewalls It is highly recmmended, clients with any srt f internet cnnectin, whether used by CSC r nt, shuld cnsult with their netwrk and hardware supplier abut firewall requirements. practix requires the fllwing Firewall access frm all PCs (unless specified): Bmgar (https://securehelp.ibahealth.cm) nline access fr practix supprt practix FTP (price/mims/icpc/ntificatins) details can be prvided at time f implementatin erx Electrnic Script sending Prt 3440 (inbund and utbund) must be pen n the server Depending n netwrk security, yu might als need t allw access t *.erx.cm.au.* Claim Manager (integrated EFTPOS and claiming) - details can be prvided at time f implementatin ehealth (PCEHR, SHS, IHI) - details can be prvided at time f implementatin Page 8 f 11
5.3 SQL Server 2005/2008 vs SQL Express 2005/2008 practix requires a versin f Micrsft SQL server fr the databases. We require a versin f Micrsft SQL Server t be installed, cnfigured and functinal prir t the installatin f practix. Which versin is mst apprpriate t the needs f the practice will depend upn the specifics f yur practice. In many circumstances SQL Express is suitable, but has certain limitatins which may make it un-suitable, fr example, Lack f enterprise features supprt (eg replicatin which means it is nt suitable fr a practix ut f ffice cnnectivity envirnment) Limited t ne CPU 1Gb memry limit fr the buffer pl SQL Express 2005 has a 4GB database size limit. SQL Express 2008 has a 10GB database size limit. Due t any f the abve pints yu may require a full SQL Server prduct t be purchased and installed. Reference the Micrsft website fr mre infrmatin n SQL Express 2005 r SQL Express 2008, including a mre in depth analysis f its limitatins and installatin instructins. SQL shuld be cnfigured t lg n with a user accunt (e.g. sqlserver ) and nt the system accunt as is the default. The use f SQL Server replicatin is nt cmpatible with the use f the system accunt 5.4 Out f Office Cnnectivity Clients Out f ffice and ther remte cnnectivity is nt supprted by CSC due t the inability t guarantee any quality f service and requires the knwledge and judgement f the practice s IT prvider t set up if apprpriate. 6 Pst Installatin Suggestins As practix relies n the mapped drives yu may wish t have these mapping during lg-n practix Services (mspservices.exe) cntinuusly runs n the server t perfrm tasks thrughut the day (eg result imprting, rsters, merging duplicate patients, refreshing screens), therefre the PC running practix Services which is usually the server always needs a system user lgged n but can be lcked. If results will cntinue t be dwnladed t a wrkstatin frm the diagnstic cmpanies then a mapped drive will need t be created frm the server t this lcatin t ensure results are imprted t the server. The path fr imprting scanned dcument images r ther files can be L:\imprt where L is the mspdata share n the server. This will allw any practix PC t attach items efficiently. Multi-page single file dcument scanning is highly recmmended t avid multiple images which can nly be stred and viewed ne page at a time. Page 10 f 11
