Help with Primo What is Primo? Primo is a search tool that allows you to find and access a wide range of print and electronic resources provided by the CCC libraries. No more searching separate places for books and articles. Through the single search box, you can now search for books, ebooks, journals, online articles, and digital art collections that are available for you. Here s how: How do I.. Access the Library Catalog? Access my library account? Start a search for a topic? Narrow my search results? Conduct an advanced search? Check the status of a book? Find the location of a book? Request a book from a CCC library? Renew a book? Access online books (ebooks)? Search for an article? Learn about other cool Primo features?

1. Go to your CCC campus website: http://www.daley.ccc.edu 2. Under Current Students select Library Systems. OR 1. Go to CCC s main website: http://www.ccc.edu 2. Under Students select Libraries.

Logging into your library account Screen 1: Click on My Account The My Account link on Primo allows you to check your library account. Screen 2: Click on Sign in 1. Click on the My Account link located on the upper-right hand corner of the Primo search page 2. Then click on Sign in 3. Login using your MyCCC login and password (it s also your Blackboard login info). 4. You will find three tabs with information about your account. Start your search 1. If accessing the library page from the main CCC website 2. Click on the What will you discover today icon. OR 1. If accessing the library from Daley College s website click on Search Primo. THEN 1. Enter your search term in the search box. 2. Click Search.

How to narrow your search results You can narrow your search results by clicking on the filters on the lefthand side of the page. The options to narrow search results include: Library location Resource type book, article, newspaper, reviews, etc. Topic Creation Date (date published) Creator (author) Language Peer reviewed And others

How to do an Advanced Search Screen 1: Click Advanced Search Screen 1 Click on the Advanced Search link next to the All Resources search box. Screen 2 Enter your search terms in the two search boxes. Use the drop-down menu on the left to indicate if searching for a specific title, author, subject, description, ISBN, etc. Use the drop down menus on the right to select publication date range, material type (i.e. book, article, etc.), and language. Click Search Screen 2: Enter search terms Screen 3: View & refine results Screen 3 View your results use the filters on the left-hand side to narrow your results.

How to check the status of a book For book location click Get it. The status of each book is below the title of each book. If it's available for you to use, it says: Available in green. If someone else has borrowed it says: Checked out in grey. The library location is after the status. Click Get it to check ALL the locations for a book. How to find the location of a book 1. After typing in your search term and finding the book you want. 2. Click on Get It to see all the different locations for a particular book. 3. Primo shows books from all seven CCC libraries

How to Request a book You can request a book from any CCC library in Primo. 1. You must login to My Account in the right hand corner in order to place book requests. 2. Use your CCC login and password to log into your library account. 3. Click on Get it. 4. Beside Request Options click on Request 5. From the drop-down menu choose where you want to pick-up your book request. 6. When done, submit by clicking request button. You can request an available book, or a book that is already checked out from any CCC library. Your book will be delivered for you in 2-3 days at the campus library you chose. Books will be held for a maximum of five days.

How to Renew a book Screen 1: Click My Account Screen 1 Click on My Account Screen 2: Click Sign In Screen 2 Click Sign In Screen 3 Sign in using your MyCCC username and password. It s the same for your BlackBoard and CCC email. Screen 4 Click on loans to view your active loans. Check the box beside the book you want to renew, and click Renew Selected. If you want to renew all, click Renew All. Screen 3: Sign in Screen 4: Click Loans, check box, select renew

Cool Primo Features 1. The Details tab provides additional information about the item. 2. Don t forget to look at the Subjects line for additional, possible search terms. 3. The Virtual Browse tab allows you to view other similar books located next to the book you are viewing. 4. The Actions drop-down menu allows you to: add the record to your virtual bookshelf (only if you re logged into My Account); email a link to the record to yourself; Print the record; Provide you a citation; Save the citation to a citation service (EndNote, RefWorks, etc.)

How to access online books Step 1 To find online books: 1. Type your keyword in the search box 2. Select Full Text Online in the Refine My Results column. 3. Then select books in the Resource Type section further down in the column. 4. Online books will say Online Access in green. 5. You can click on the title to see the book online. Step 2 If you are off-campus, you'll need to log in first before you do this.

How to search for articles 1. Type your keywords into the search box and click Search. 2. Use the filters on the left side of the page to narrow your results. 3. For peer-reviewed journals click on the link for Peer-reviewed Journals at the top of the filters on the left-hand side. 4. The options to narrow search results include: Peer-reviewed articles Full-text online Published date Resource type (i.e. newspaper article, journal article, review article, etc) Topic (here you can narrow the focus of your keyword search) Language And others More filter options below.
