1 Discovery Phase Delivery 1.1 Overview Following GDS Service Manual principles, Unboxed Consulting are able to provide a number of consultants to facilitate and guide you through the Discovery Phase. 1.2 Activities in a Discovery Phase As per GDS service design manual, the purpose of a discovery phase is to identify who your users are, what their needs are and what the service currently does. From this, you can then identify what it is that you need to build and test with users during the alpha phase. Some of the activities we ll undertake with you are: - Identify who the users are - Interview current users to understand how they use the current process - Run through the current process that you currently use - Wireframe initial ideas and get a small amount of user feedback - Identify the backlog for the alpha and the effort involved These activities take in the region of 10 days spread out over 4 weeks. 1.3 Examples Department for Education The Department for Education is developing an online resources hub for schools registering for Academy status and groups setting up free schools, shifting from paper forms to a fully digital service.
