The cabinets are shipped in the pad mount configuration. The 3M cabinet 4220SVB is designed to accept one external mount DSLAM, the 3M cabinet 4220SVC can accept one or two and the 3M cabinet 4220SVE can accept one to four. All of these cabinets can also house a fiber termination/connection box and an AC powering connection box. The 3M cabinets 4220SVB and 4220SVC are multiuse in that they can be field converted as a pad, stake or pole/post mount application. The 3M cabinet 4220SVE is a pad mount or stake cabinet. The cabinets accept 3M Quick Connect System (QCS) 2810 Blocks and Frames ordered separately. 1.2 Tools required for installation: a. UAE socket set b. Standard hand tools 1.3 Accessories - general a. Stake mount kit b. Pole/Post/Wall mount kit c. Rear cable entry skirt kit d. Front or rear stabilizer kit e. Rear cable entry skirt with stabilizer kit f. Top cable entry port kit g. Internal cable sealing port kit h. 3M QCS Frame 2810 300 maximum pair empty or loaded i. 3M QCS 2810 frame 600 maximum pair loaded j. 3M QCS 2810 50 pair harness kits k. Fiber box l. AC power box m. Cable/pair count labels 1.4 Additional materials that may needed for total DSLAM point installation: a. Port sealing materials b. Splicing connectors c. 3M Scotchlok Shield Bond Connector 4460D Note: The DSLAM apparatus cases can only be attached directly to the cabinets when they are in the pad, hand hole, or stake mount configuration. Note: There are separate mounting brackets for each of the Adtran Gen 3 and Gen 4 and Calix DSLAM apparatus cases. Only one kit is required to mount one DSLAM and either kit will fit the 3M cabinets 4220SVB, 4220SVC or 4220SVE. There is also a separate kit to mount the ALPHA 150 power supply.

4 February 2017 78-0015-2690-0-C 4.0 Bracket installation Pad, Hand Hole, or Stake Mount Cabinet 4.1 Pre-installed mounting bolts: 3M Cross-Connect Cabinet 4220SVB one set on the back 3M Cross-Connect Cabinet 4220SVC one set on the back, one set on the side 3M Cross-Connect Cabinet 4220SVE two sets on the back, one set on each side 4.2 All cabinets are supplied with one (1) set of mounting bolts extending out of the back of the cabinet. The 3M cabinets 4220SVC and 4220SVE additional mounting bolts are installed with the bolt extending into the cabinet. The top bolt would need to be reversed to extend out when installing a DSLAM in that position. Note: Install the bread pan cable sealing kit before routing cable if utilized. a. Remove the long bracket and smaller brackets from the package. b. Confirm the specific DSLAM mounting bracket is correct for the DSLAM being installed. c. Attach small top bracket on the top mounting position of the DSLAM unit and tighten bolts. d. Remove the outside nut and washer on the top bolt extending out from the cabinet. e. Remove the bottom bolt, washers and nuts on the cabinet. f. Install the long DSLAM bracket on the cabinet with the top keyhole hanging on the top bolt, pins pointing up. Reinstall and tighten washer and nut. g. If required, install the 3rd bracket with the bolt threads extending through the bracket and into the cabinet and tighten bolt, washer and nut. h. Hang the DSLAM on the cabinet by placing its top bracket over the pins on the long bracket attached to the cabinet. i. Align the DSLAM to the bottom bracket, install and tighten bolts. j. Install and tighten the bolt in top bracket between long bracket pins. Note: It may be easier to install the cables on the DSLAM and route them through the cabinet opening as you are hanging the DSLAM on the cabinet. Note: Insert bottom bolt facing inward for all DSLAM applications.
78-0015-2690-0-C February 2017 5 Adtran DSLAM bracket mounting kit (Cabinet, Pole or Post) Adtran Gen 3 place bottom bracket onto the long bracket. Adtran Gen 4 does not require 3rd bracket. Calix DSLAM bracket mounting kit (Cabinet, Pole or Post) Calix DSLAM requires all 3 brackets in its kit. k. Route all DSLAM cables into the opening in the cabinet and up into cabinet chamber. l. Attach DSLAM factory terminated ground wire to cabinet bus bar on double posts. m. Install skirt and stabilizers if not completed prior to placing DSLAM. n. Install 3M Scotchlok Shield Bond Connectors 4460D to DSLAM copper cables and connect to cabinet bond bar with approved #6 bond braids. o. Splice copper DSLAM cable and copper field cable to the 3M Quick Connect System (QCS) Block 2810 harness as directed by your company.

Install to your company s specifications with regard to hardware and height. Note: 3M Cross-Connect Cabinet 4220SVB and 4220SVC in pole/post configurations are designed for walk up applications only. Cabinets are designed for the top of the cabinet height to be 6' or less above the ground line. a. Remove the long bracket and smaller brackets from the package. b. Confirm the specific DSLAM mounting bracket is correct for the DSLAM being installed. c. Attach small top bracket on the top mounting position of the DSLAM unit and tighten bolts. d. Install the long DSLAM bracket on the pole or post using your company approved attachment method of A bolts and/or lag screws. e. Position the long bracket with pins pointing up and place the top bolt through the keyhole on the bracket. f. If installing the 3rd bracket, place it on the bolt prior to placing the bolt through the long bracket and into the pole. g. Hang the DSLAM on the bracket by placing its top bracket over the pins on the long bracket attached to the pole or post. h. Align the DSLAM to the bottom bracket, install and tighten bolts. i. Install and tighten the bolt in top bracket between long bracket pins. 6.0 Bracket Installation ALPHA FMPS 150 Power Supply to Cabinet Note: Requires customer provided hardware for pole/ post mount. Install to your company s specifications with regard to hardware and height. *Follow all guidelines outlined in the ALPHA FMPS 150 Power Supply instructions for safety, grounding, connections and startup. a. Remove the long bracket and smaller brackets from the package. b. Confirm the specific mounting position for the ALPHA power supply being installed. c. Attach small top bracket to the top mounting position of the ALPHA power supply unit and tighten bolts. d. Remove the hardware on the top position of the cabinet. e. Remove the bottom bolt, washers and nuts on the cabinet. f. Install the long bracket on the cabinet with the top keyhole hanging on the top bolt, pins pointing up. Reinstall and tighten washer and nut. g. Install the 3rd bracket with the bolt threads extending through the bracket and into the cabinet and tighten bolt, washer and nut. h. Hang the ALPHA power supply on the cabinet by placing its top bracket over the pins on the long bracket attached to the cabinet. i. Align the power supply to the bottom bracket, install and tighten bolts. j. Install and tighten the bolt in top bracket between long bracket pins.

Position the long bracket with pins pointing up and place the top bolt through the keyhole on the bracket. c. If installing the 3rd bracket, place it on the bolt prior to placing the bolt through the long bracket and into the pole. d. Attach small top bracket to the top mounting position of the ALPHA power supply unit and tighten bolts. e. Hang the ALPHA power supply on the bracket by placing its top bracket over the pins on the long bracket attached to the pole or post. f. Align the ALPHA power supply to the bottom bracket, install and tighten bolts. g. Install and tighten the bolt in top bracket between long bracket pins. h. Remove the top 5/16" bolt and hardware (used for DSLAM) from the back of the cabinet and seal hole per your company practice. b. Using the hardware removed in the previous step attach the upper and lower brackets as shown.
