Indisputable competence - in all respects. Since the beginning of 1970's Siemens Building Technologies Ltd. (formerly Cerberus and Alarmcom) has been developing and manufacturing motion detectors, with a proven track record of monitoring different types of rooms. The result of burglaries is not only the destruction of the building and the theft of property. The psychological shock of the people robbed has an even greater effect. For this reason, it is extremely important to detect the intruder quickly and reliably, in order to gain crucial time to take the appropriate measures. In addition, a motion detector must reliably distinguish between genuine burglary attempts and false alarms. False alarms result not only in added expenses, but also diminish the trust in the sophisticated system. Also important is the attractiveness, yet discreet design of the motion detector. Simple and quick installation is extremely important, as it saves costly installation time. Passive infrared (PIR) motion detectors from Siemens capture infrared energy that is emitted by humans and guide this energy through a complex system of filters and mirrors to the "pyrosensor". The signals are then digitized and evaluated and if there is then a change in the infrared energy, which conforms to the characteristics of a human being, the detector immediately activates the alarm. The complex interplay between electronics and mechanics ensures that undesired disturbance signals do not influence the detection performance. Experience that counts We develop our products based upon the results of thousands of tests in our own development laboratories and using field tests, which we perform with both installers and end users, but also in collaboration with various national approval authorities. Through these years of collaboration, we are always able to develop innovative and extremely reliable motion detectors that are in keeping with the constantly changing environmental requirements. 3
No uninvited guests with Siemens motion detectors. IR80 The IR80 sets itself apart primarily through its unique price/performance ratio. Intelligent signal analysis provides reliable detection security. The discrete design and pet immunity up to 12 kg makes the IR80 an ideal motion detector for use in private houses. IR100 The IR100 combines the proven Triplex mirror technology with the intelligent BASIC signal analysis. Features, such as the snap-in concept to save time during installation, are why the IR100 is extremely suitable for both residential and small commercial applications. IR120 The IR120 is the ideal motion detector for residential and smaller commercial applications. An extremely high level of detection security is achieved due to the use of the black Triplex mirror optics and the AMASIC digital signal analysis. Pets with a weight up to 40 kg should not trigger an alarm due to the Siemens pet immunity concept. This makes the IR120 an ideal high-performance detector for residential applications. IR200 Attractive design, time-saving installation, reliable detection and excellent false alarm immunity make the IR200 an ideal motion detector for commercial facilities and more sophisticated home usage. Black mirror optics and VISATEC II digital signal analysis distinguish the IR200 as one of the best detectors of its class. 4
IR270 Excellent detection performance and the unique false alarm immunity makes the IR270 the ideal motion detector for commercial and industrial applications. The black Triplex mirror optics and the VISATEC II signal evaluation ensure optimal detection performance without false alarms. For high security applications a version with real-time anti-mask surveillance is available. IR310 / IR312 The IR310 and IR312 detector family were designed specifically for use in industrial and commercial applications. A range of 18 m (IR310) or of 50 m (IR312) offers excellent protection from unwanted visitors. The IR310 / IR312 can reliably distinguish between false alarms and actual intruders due to the VISATEC multiple criteria signal analysis and also features swivelling mirror technology, allowing the best possible alignment of the detection range. IR261 The IR261 ceiling-mount detector is the choice for the surveillance of shops and large-capacity office buildings, corridor intersections or other rooms with a flexible distribution of rooms. The IR261 can be mounted on the ceiling in the shortest amount of time due to the two-component housing. Accessories Intelligent accessories increase the motion detectors performance even further. This is why Siemens has a large range of accessories, such as brackets for wall or ceiling mounting, or exchangeable mirrors for continuous curtain surveillance. 5
Features that make a good motion detector even better. Superior mirror technology Siemens has always counted on the proven mirror technology to the benefit of the customers. Motion detectors with mirror technology have the following benefits compared to conventional motion detectors with Fresnel lenses: Uniform sensitivity over all detection zones and over all segments ensures a uniform catch performance for the hole coverage area. Siemens makes good things even better! That is why Siemens has the worldwide patent on the black mirror technology. White light can irritate a motion detector, which results in false alarms. This is not the case with Siemens motion detectors, because the special coating of the black mirror absorbs the natural white light (sunlight or light from lamps), which is in a different frequency band than the infrared energy emitted by human. The result is a considerable reduction of false alarms. The adjusted focal length of the entire coverage area has proven to reduce the false alarm rates. Mirror technology allows a continuous look-down zone. When using motion detectors in residential applications, it should be kept in mind that pets can usually activate an alarm. This is not the case with Siemens motion detectors with pet immunity. The use of Triplex mirror technology can give pets with a body weight of up to 40 kg immunity against alarms. a) b) a) Triplex mirror b) Pyrosensor 1 Zone The superior black mirror technology reliably filters the white light. The pet does not cause an alarm, as the standard zone has been extended by using the Triplex mirror. 6
a t u r L i i e o n e c t i t Motion detectors with dual technology Siemens successfully introduced the Matchtec TM technology on the market many years ago. Intelligent digital signal evaluation Every motion detector is only as good as its signal evaluation. It is during signal analysis that the determination is made whether or not there is a genuine alarm. The signals coming from the pyrosensor are digitalized and are evaluated for their characteristics and Siemens uses different technologies for this analysis: VISATEC II The proven VISATEC signal analysis system that had been used effectively for many years has been improved with the latest know-how from Siemens. AMASIC AMASIC is a digital multiple criteria analysis and is used in the latest detector generation by Siemens. Multiple criteria signal analysis by Siemens Genuine alarms are clearly distinguished from false alarms based upon pre-saved signal characteristics. The digital signal evaluation takes the following criteria into account: Form Amplitude Energy Frequency Timing Multiple Events The combination of passive infrared with ultra-sonic technology ensures the UP370 is the best motion detector for high security applications. Siemens also combines passive infrared with microwave technology. Please refer to the separate brochure for more information on Siemens Matchtec TM motion detectors. Persuasive to the smallest detail. Automatic temperature compensation Automatic temperature compensation increases the sensitivity when the ambient temperatures are in the range of human body temperature and is automatically reduced at higher and lower temperatures. This means that the Siemens motion detector can reliably detect an intruder even with the smallest temperature differences. Protection from insects Siemens motion detectors are designed in such a way that insects cannot gain access to the pyrosensor chamber, therefore cannot activate a false alarm. If insects do get inside of the detector through the cable inlets, the sensitive part of the Siemens motion detector is not accessible due to a special physical barrier. Snap-in Technology Siemens motion detectors can be installed quickly and easily. Screw the housing base to the wall, connect the wiring to the connection terminal and simply snap in the housing - that's all there is to it. This will save valuable and costly installation time. EMC immunity Top quality components and countless tests make the Siemens motion detectors extremely immune to electro-magnetic interference through mobile phones, fluorescent tubes or other lighting fixtures. Real-time anti-mask Anti-mask surveillance provides additional protection from sabotage for high security applications. Siemens uses an intelligent system: The detector constantly checks its status and intelligently decides if masking is actually occurring and then activates the appropriate alarm. Conventional detectors must be reset from the control panel after a temporary masking, however the Siemens motion detector automatically switches back to the initial state after the masking is removed. The intelligent anti-mask surveillance by Siemens detects all masking techniques such as films, hats or boxes as well as sprays with various liquids. 8
Made in Switzerland Siemens motion detectors are entirely developed and manufactured in Switzerland conforming to ISO 9001: 2000 standard. The highest quality requirements are the minimum for Siemens detectors. 9
