Initial Setup of Microsoft Outlook Concept This document describes the procedures for setting up the Microsoft Outlook email client to download messages from Google Mail using Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) with the Mac OS X Lion operating system. IMAP synchronizes the actions you take in Outlook with Google Mail so if you read or delete a message in the client, it will be marked as such in the Google Mail interface. These instructions are intended for users that already have an active CWRU Google Mail account and want to set up the Outlook email client for the first time. Procedure 1. Open your web browser and navigate to the site: webmail.case.edu. Enter your CWRU Network ID and password and then click the LOGIN button. 1 Information Technology Services 2012

7. Scroll to the bottom of the Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings window and then click the Save Changes button. Then, sign out of the Google Mail web interface. 2012 Information Technology Services 4

Step Action 14. Enter your CWRU email address into the E-mail address field. Upon recognizing your case.edu domain, the Outlook client will expand the window and allow you to enter your account settings manually. 2012 Information Technology Services 10
Step Action 15. Enter your Google Apps password in the Password field. 16. Enter the CWRU Network ID version of your email address (abc123@case.edu) in the User name field. 17. Select IMAP from the drop down list in the Type field. 18. Enter imap.gmail.com in the Incoming server field. 19.
