Access the Chalk and Wire website by selecting this link http://www.chalkandwire.com/nsuok or typing the URL in the URL bar of your web browser. 3. Select Register.

Enter the subscription code from the activation card you purchased in the empty field labeled Subscription Code. 5. Fill out the remainder of the New User Registration form with your first and last name, 6. your NSU email address (twice for verification), 7. and your chosen password (twice for verification). The password must be a minimum of six characters. 8. Select Register.

Here you can view information regarding your account and active portfolios. You will need to create a portfolio to submit work for assessment if you have not already done so. 1. Click on the Main Menu Icon. 2. Click on the Work option.

NSU Chalk & Wire QuickStart Guide Page 6 of 22 Step 4: Select your Submission Method On the My Coursework screen, there are two options for submitting work: My Portfolios and My Assignments. My Portfolios This option allows you to create new and access existing portfolios containing coursework typically grouped by program or course. This is the most commonly used method for coursework submission. NOTE: Existing portfolios are also accessible directly from your Dashboard under the Portfolios tab. My Assignments This option allows instructors to create and assign coursework that has not been included in your program or course-based portfolio. Once assigned to you, the assignment(s) will appear in this page automatically for you to access and complete. HAVING TROUBLE? If you have not yet created any portfolios, you will also see a Create New Portfolio button. Both buttons will direct you to the same screen.

Select the Table of Contents, as directed by your instructor. 4. Click Create. HAVING TROUBLE? Select the Can't find your table of contents? link to reveal a second drop down menu, labeled "Department." Select the appropriate Department to change the options in the Table of Contents drop-down menu.

Select the appropriate page for your course/assignment from the Table of Contents on the left side of your screen. You must add content to the portfolio page before you can submit your work. To begin adding content: 2. Use the Add Content drop-down menu to select the appropriate method for adding content.
NSU Chalk & Wire QuickStart Guide Page 11 of 22 Step 5: Add Content to Your Portfolio (continued) Text Block Text Block The 'Text Block' feature enables you to add text directly to your portfolio page rather than uploading it as a MS Word document. Our text editor enables you to format your text to ensure that it appears clean and professional. Here is additional information about how to add text. Text Block: Insert Full-Size Image An image adding using the 'Upload New File' or 'Files from My Library' options will appear as a thumbnail. Use the 'Text Block' feature to add a fullsize image to your portfolio. Here is more information about how to insert a full-size image. Text Block: Embed a Youtube video The 'Text Block' feature also enables you to embed a YouTube video link within your portfolio. The video will be playable directly on the portfolio page, eliminating the need to redirect to a different browser tab or window. This user guide provides more information about how to embed a Youtube video. Text Block: Create a Direct URL to a File The 'Text Block' feature also enables you to create a direct URL to a file that you have previously uploaded. The URL is sharable via hyperlink within your portfolio, or by pasting it into an email or onto a website. The direct URL prompts an automatic download of the file. NSU Chalk & Wire QuickStart Guide Page 12 of 22 Step 5: Add Content to Your Portfolio (continued) Text Block (continued) Text Block: Insert a Mathematical Formula The 'Text Block' feature also includes a LaTeX mathematical formula creator. This feature allows users to insert mathematical formulas into their portfolio, which normally could not be achieved using standard keyboard symbols. Here is additional information about how to insert a mathematical formula. Upload New File and Files from My Library The 'Upload New File' and 'Files from My Library' options both enable you to add a file to your portfolio. 'Upload New File' should be used when uploading a file from your local hard drive to Chalk & Wire for the first time. 'Files from My Library' should be used when you have already uploaded the file to Chalk & Wire (in another portfolio, or in your File Library) and would like to add it to your portfolio. Upload a New File Upload New File provides you with the option to include tags to your file which helps with File Library organization. Additionally, you can choose various conversion options if the file is a video file. Here is more information about how to upload a new file. Files from My Library The Files from My Library option is a quick and easy way to add an existing file from within your Chalk & Wire account to your portfolio. In the text box on the Submit Portfolio screen, type the name of the assessor to whom you wish to submit your work. As you type, any matches to what you are typing will appear. 3. Select the correct assessor name when it appears. Once you have done this, the assessor name will appear above the submit button next to a checkmark (not shown). 4. Click Submit. HAVING TROUBLE? View Results Once your assessor has assessed your submissions and made the results available to you, you can access and view them from the My Results screen. To access the My Results screen: 1. Click on the Main Menu Icon. 2. Click on the Work option.
