Content Builder: How-To Guide In-Line Editing Several of the components have in-line editing where you can format the text and include hyperlinks. To access the in-line editing, click the pencil button in the upper right-hand corner of the component. Properties Box This is where you can add fields like Page Title, Meta Keywords, and Meta Description, as well as adjust the layouts of certain components and other customizable options. You can also type in items like Header, Sub-Header and Body Text this can also be done within the component itself. On the properties box, the required fields are identified in red.
How to build a custom Article 1. Click, drag and drop the Article component into the interactive workspace in the desired location. Once the Article Selector pops up, click on the Create New Article button in the bottom left hand corner.
2. Type in Header and Sub-Header. 3. To include the body text, click the pencil button in the upper right-hand corner. You can insert an Abstract to give the readers a snapshot of the article with up to 500 characters, but it is not mandatory. If you don t insert your own, the abstract will be automatically generated from the first 250 characters. 4. The pencil button is also what you will click to access the in-line editing feature. You can format the text in a number of ways, including changing the font color, alignment and access to HTML. To add a hyperlink: highlight the desired text, click the hyperlink icon, and either choose from the list of previously added hyperlinks or click Create New Link in the bottom left-hand corner. If creating a new link: select the appropriate category from the drop-down menu and type in the URL. The URL will be framed in live on the right hand side as validation. Click Insert Link. 5. Select the Click to Add Image button in the left hand corner to open the Image Library and associate an image with the content.
6. Drill down to a category or type in a keyword to locate a specific image. Select desired image and click Add Image. You may also upload a new image. See below for more information on image uploading. 7. In the Properties Box fill in the required fields, including the Page Title. The Page Title is what appears on a tab in the browser and is crucial for the newsletter s SEO. Meta keywords and Meta description are optional but are strongly recommended. How to select an Auto Review 1. Click the Auto Review component and drag to desired location. 2. Use the drop-down menus to select a year and model. 3. Select desired auto review. 4. Click either Insert Snippet or Insert Full Article to add the review. How to build a Coupon 1. Click and drag the Coupon component to desired location. 2. Either choose a previously saved coupon and click Insert Coupon or click the Create button. You may also update a pre-existing coupon by inserting the coupon and editing it within the newsletter. 3. Fill out required fields including Page Title, Header and Expiration Date in the Properties Box. 4. Enter the Header, Price and Bullet Points either in the Properties Box or by using the in-line editing function within the body of the newsletter. 5. Click the Click to Add Image button to open the Image Library and associate an image with the content. Automotive - General category is a great place to find relevant images for coupons.
You may also upload a new image. See below for more information on image uploading. How to upload a YouTube video 1. Select YouTube Video component and drag to desired location. 2. Either choose a previously used video and click Insert YouTube or click the Create New YouTube Video button. 3. If creating a new YouTube video, select Click to Add YouTube Video. Then click Create New Link. Under the Type drop-down menu, select YouTube. Copy and paste the full YouTube link into Link URL field and click Insert Link. 4. If want to add text, use the Properties Box to insert body content. The Properties Box is also where you can choose to have the YouTube video auto-play. 5. If the video doesn t play, be sure the video is not on a YouTube channel. If it is, click the title of the video to bring it up on a clean page. Also, be sure you are including the full URL, not the share URL. How to build Content 1. Click the Content component and drag to desired location. 2. Either choose a previously saved article and click Insert or click the Create New Content tab. 3. Give the Content a header and optional sub-header. 4. Click the pencil icon to insert and format the full article text. Click the save icon. 5. Select Click to Add Image to include a Thumbnail, Top Cap and/or Bottom Cap image. Choose an image from the Image Library or upload an original image. 6. Use the Properties Box to select the desired layout.
How to add a Promo 1. Click and drag the Promo component to desired location. 2. Either choose a previously created Promo and click Insert Promo or click the Create button. 3. Give the promo a header and optional sub-header. 4. Select the pencil icon to add content. After completed, click the save icon. How to add a Promo Image 1. Click and drag the Promo Image component to desired location within interactive workspace. 2. Choose a previously used Promo Image and click Insert Image or click the Create button. 3. Use the Promo Image Properties Box to insert link. 4. Use the in-line editing feature to add content. 5. Select Click to Add Image to open the Image Library. Using your mouse, drag a rectangle around the first portion you want to become a hot spot.
6. Click the number associated with the hotspot and insert the URL and Alt Text (what will appear when you roll over the hotspot with your mouse). 7. Repeat with up to 7 total hotspots. 8. When finished, click the save icon. How to add HTML 1. Click the HTML component and drag to desired location. 2. Click the gray box to add HTML. 3. Either copy and paste or type in custom HTML. When finished, click the save icon. How to add Map w/ Hours 1. Click and drag the Map w/ Hours component to desired location within interactive workspace. 2. In the Properties Box, edit the header, sub-header, location, map type, and zoom level. How to add Social Media Buttons and Separators
1. Simply click desired component, drag to specified location and drop. These are already set to link to their respective locations. How to upload a photo 1. You may either upload a photo by clicking the photo icon on the left hand side of the newsletter builder or under each individual component. 2. Click Choose File and find the desired image on your computer 3. Type in Alt Tags (what appears when you roll over the image with your mouse). 4. Type in Keywords (this will easily allow you to search for the image in the Wire at a later time). 5. Select a category for the image. You may choose a pre-existing category or create a new category (click New Category ). 6. Click Upload Image. In addition to the original image, different sizes of the image that you may need to use throughout the newsletter will also be uploaded.
How to save a newsletter 1. Click the desired save or preview option. Save allows you to save the newsletter and continue working. It is recommended that you save frequently as you are building out the newsletter. Save & Exit saves the newsletter and takes you back to the Content Builder homepage. Preview brings up the newsletter in new window with a unique URL. Use this option to get an advanced look at what the newsletter will look like and test links. Mobile Preview is an interactive preview that shows you how the newsletter will look on mobile devices. Publish pushes the newsletter live to the engagement site. Cancel takes you back to the Content Builder homepage without saving any changes.
