Travelling to Szeged By Plane The Szeged train line passes next to the Liszt Ferenc Airport (Budapest), so if you arrive by plane, you can catch the Szeged train at the "Ferihegy állomás" (Ferihegy Railway Station). At the airport there are two terminals where you might arrive, 1 and 2A-2B. Starting from Terminal 2A-2B, city bus number 200E runs between the two terminals, passing the Ferihegy Railway Station on the way. The bus costs 400 forints, and a ticket can be purchased from the driver. (The Budapest city bus website is: http://www.bkv.hu/english/home/) When you get to the Ferihegy Railway Station, go to the second set of tracks (i.e. the one farther away from the road) and you can catch the Szeged train there. You can buy the train ticket at the "Tourinform" office at Liszt Ferenc Airport Terminal 1. from 9.00 AM to 10 PM or at platform B at the Ferihegy Railway Station from the ticket vending machine. The two platforms of the Ferihegy Railway Station are connected to the Liszt Ferenc Airport Terminal 1 with a pedestrian footbridge equipped with lifts above the clearway. A short pedestrian path of just 200 meters takes the passengers from the terminal to the railway station. When buying a train ticket (vonatjegy) you can either get a seat reservation (helyjegy) costs 480 forints in one of the special "InterCity" cars which are on each train, or simply seat where you like in other 2nd class cars. (Usually the Intercity cars are much cleaner and a bit more comfortable than the normal ones.) If you'll be travelling back to Budapest by train, you can get a return ticket (menettérti jegy). By Train International trains arrive to Keleti Pályaudvar (East Station), Nyugati Pályaudvar (West Station) or Déli Pályaudvar (South Station) at Budapest. The trains to Szeged leave from the Nyugati Pályaudvar in every hour. The three railway stations are in metro connection. Metro tickets can be purchased at the Metro entrance costs 320 forints. Coming from the East Station: Take Metro 2 (red line) to Deák Square and change for Metro 3 (blue line) to the West Station. (This ride takes approximately 15 minutes.) Coming from the South Station: Take Metro 2 (red line) to Deák Square and change for Metro 3 (blue line) to the West Station. (This ride takes 20 minutes). By Car Szeged can be easily reached by car on motorway from any direction. For using the motorway you have to purchase a 4-day vignette that costs about 1500 forints. Coming from Budapest, Szeged can be reached on M5 motorway (about 90 minutes from Budapest). From Romania, you have to take the 43/E68 road, and from Serbia the E75 road. Unfortunately parking in the centre of Szeged on weekdays between 8.00 18.00 is not free. It is recommended to leave your car in your hotel s garage. Public transport in Szeged Szeged is an easily walkable city, however buses, trolley buses, and trams are all available means of transportation. Bus tickets can be purchased almost anywhere in town, in kiosks, in shops, and even on buses.
