Introduction This is the access level 1 and access level 2 operation manual for the Kilsen KFP-CF series fire alarm control panels. Read these instructions and all related documentation entirely before operating this product. Product range The KFP-CF series includes the models shown below. Model KFP-CF2 KFP-CF4 KFP-CF8 Description Two-zone fire alarm control panel Four-zone fire alarm control panel with fire routing Eight-zone fire alarm control panel with fire routing Fire routing on the four- and eight-zone models is not available for all operating modes. See Sounder and fire routing delays on page 2. Operating modes Supported operating modes are shown in the table below. The default operating mode is EN 54-2. Sounder and fire routing delays Sounder and fire routing delays are not available for all operating modes. The table below shows delay availability for each operating mode. Operator controls and indicators The following table gives an overview of the control panel operator controls and indicators. Item numbers refer to Figure 1 on page 3 and Figure 2 on page 4. Operational features described here may not be available to all users. Further information on control panel operation and access restrictions can be found in the topic Control panel operation on page 10. Table 3: Operator controls and LED indicators Item Control/LED LED colour Description 1 Zone button and LEDs Red/Yellow Disables or tests a zone (when pressed together with the general Disable or general Test button). The red LED indicates an alarm in the corresponding zone. A flashing red LED indicates that the fire alarm was activated by a detector. A steady red LED indicates that the fire alarm was activated by a manual call point. The yellow LED indicates a fault, test, or disablement in the corresponding zone. A flashing yellow LED indicates a fault. A steady yellow LED indicates that the zone is disabled or is being tested. 2 Supply LED Green Indicates that the system is powered up correctly. 3 General Fault LED Yellow Indicates a fault. The corresponding zone, device, or function fault LED also flashes. 4 General Fire Alarm LEDs 5 Sounder Fault/Disable/ Test button and LED 6 Sounder Delay button and LED Red Yellow Yellow Indicates a fire alarm. Flashing LEDs indicate that the fire alarm was activated by a detector. Steady LEDs indicate that the fire alarm was activated by a manual call point. The corresponding zone alarm LED indicates the source of fire alarm. 7 Network Fault LED Yellow Indicates a network fault. Disables or tests sounders (when pressed with the general Disable or general Test button). A flashing LED indicates a fault with the sounders. A steady LED indicates that the sounders are disabled or are being tested. Enables or disables a previously configured sounder delay. A steady LED indicates that a sounder delay is configured and enabled. 8 Service Detector LED Yellow Indicates that a detector requires servicing (CleanMe compatible detectors only). 9 Expansion I/O Fault/Disabled LED Yellow Indicates that an installed expansion module has a fault or is disabled. A flashing LED indicates a fault with an expansion module. A steady LED indicates that an expansion module is disabled. Kilsen KFP-CF Series Operation Manual 5

A steady general Disable LED and the corresponding zone, sounders, or fire routing Fault/Disable/Test LED indicates a disablement. Tests a zone, sounders, or fire routing (when pressed with the corresponding button). A steady general Test LED and the corresponding zone, sounders, or fire routing Fault/Disable/Test LED indicates a test. Used to enter the access level 2 password. The Enter button is also used to disable expansion I/O modules (when pressed with the general Disable button). 13 Reset button Yellow Resets the control panel and clears all current system events (except expansion I/O module fault communication). A steady LED indicates that access level 2 is active (see Access levels on page 10). 14 Panel Silence button and LED 15 Sounder Start/Stop button and LED Yellow Red Silences the internal buzzer and acknowledges all current events. A steady LED indicates that all current events were acknowledged. Stops (silences) all active sounders. Pressing the button again restarts them. A flashing LED indicates that sounders activate when a configured delay elapses. A steady LED indicates that the sounders are active (sounding). 16 System Fault LED Yellow Indicates a control panel CPU failure. 17 Out of Service LED Yellow Indicates that the control panel is not operational. 18 Earth Fault LED Yellow Indicates an earth fault. 19 Supply Fault LED Yellow Indicates a fault with the power supply. 20 Fire Routing Delay button and LED 21 Fire Routing Start button and LED Yellow Red A flashing LED indicates a battery or battery fuse fault. A steady LED indicates a mains or mains fuse fault. Enables or disables a previously configured fire routing delay. A steady LED indicates that a fire routing delay is configured and enabled. Cancels a previously configured delay and activates fire routing. A flashing LED indicates that fire routing activates when the configured delay elapses. Item Control/LED LED colour Description 21 Fire Routing Fault/Disable/Test button and LED Yellow Indicates that fire routing is in a fault condition, is disabled, or is being tested. A flashing LED indicates a fault. A steady LED indicates that the function is disabled or is being tested. Acoustic indicators The control panel uses the following acoustic indicators to highlight system events. Indication The internal buzzer sounds constantly The internal buzzer sounds intermittently Description Indicates a fire alarm or a system fault Indicates all other faults Summary of status indications This section includes a summary of the control panel status indications. Standby (normal status) Standby, or normal status, is indicated as follows: The Supply LED is steady. If a sounder delay was enabled, the Sounder Delay LED is steady. If a fire routing delay was enabled, the Fire Routing Delay LED is steady. There are no acoustic indications. Fire alarm Fire alarm status is indicated as follows: The general Fire Alarm LEDs are flashing if the alarm was activated by a detector or steady if the alarm was activated by a manual call point. The corresponding zone alarm LEDs are flashing if the alarm was activated by a detector or steady if the alarm was activated by a manual call point. If a sounder delay was enabled, the Sounder Delay LED is steady. The Sounder Start/Stop LED flashes while the delay is active. When the sounders are active (sounding), the LED is steady. If a fire routing delay was enabled, the Fire Routing Delay LED is steady. The Fire Routing Start LED flashes while the delay is active. When fire routing is active, the LED is steady. The internal buzzer sounds constantly. Alarms activated by a manual call point always take priority over alarms activated by a detector. If an alarm is activated by both devices, the Fire Alarm LEDs and zone alarm LEDs are steady. Kilsen KFP-CF Series Operation Manual 7

Fault Fault status is indicated as follows: General faults are indicated by the general Fault LED and the corresponding zone, function, or device fault LED indicator flashing. Mains power faults and mains fuse faults are indicated by a flashing general Fault LED and a steady Supply Fault LED. Battery power and battery fuse faults are indicated by a flashing general Fault LED and a flashing Supply Fault LED. Earth faults are indicated by a flashing general Fault LED and a steady Earth Fault LED. The internal buzzer sounds intermittently. WARNING: Contact your installation or maintenance contractor to investigate the cause of all reported faults. Disabled Disabled zones are indicated as follows: The general Disable LED and the corresponding zone Fault/Disable/Test LEDs are steady. There is no acoustic indicator. Disabled sounders are indicated as follows: The general Disable LED and the Sounder Fault/Disable/Test LEDs are steady. There is no acoustic indicator. Disabled fire routing is indicated as follows: The general Disable LED and the Fire Routing Fault/Disable/Test LEDs are steady. There is no acoustic indicator. Disabled expansion modules are indicated as follows: The general Disable LED and the I/O Fault/Disabled LEDs are steady. There is no acoustic indicator. Test A zone test is indicated as follows: The general Test and the corresponding zone Fault/Disable/Test LEDs are steady. There is no acoustic indicator. A sounder test is indicated as follows: The general Test and the Sounder Fault/Disable/Test LEDs are steady. There is no acoustic indicator. A fire routing test is indicated as follows: The general Test and the Fire Routing Start Fault/Disable/Test LEDs are steady. There is no acoustic indicator. 8 Kilsen KFP-CF Series Operation Manual

Out of service WARNING: When the control panel indicates Out of Service, your fire alarm system is inactive and your site is not protected. Contact your installation or maintenance contractor immediately to investigate the problem. The control panel is out of service when there is insufficient or no mains and/or battery power. In this state there is no further fire alarm or fault warning and all panel operation stops. Out of service is indicated as follows: The Supply LED flashes if there is no mains power and the battery voltage is insufficient. The Supply LED is steady if the mains power is insufficient and no battery power is detected. The Out of Service LED is steady. The internal buzzer sounds intermittently. When power is re-established the control panel returns to its former status. Caution: To avoid damage to batteries, we recommended that you disconnect them when the control panel is out of service. Control panel operation Access levels For your safety, operation of some features of this product are restricted by access level. Access level 1 Access level 1 is the default access level and allows basic operational access only, such as responding to a fire alarm or fault warning at the control panel. The tasks you can perform at this access level are detailed in the topic Basic operation on page 11. Access level 2 Access level 2 allows advanced operational access. It is reserved for authorized users who have been trained to operate the control panel. The default access level 2 password is 2222. The tasks you can perform at this access level are detailed in the topic Advanced operation on page 13. Entering access level 2 To enter access level 2: 1. Enter the access level 2 password using the numeric keypad. 2. Press Enter. A long beep and a steady Reset LED indicate that the correct password was entered and access level 2 is active. Note: Three short beeps accompanied by a flashing general Fault LED indicate that an incorrect password was entered. Exiting from access level 2 The control panel automatically exits from access level 2 and reverts to access level 1 after five minutes if no button is pressed. 10 Kilsen KFP-CF Series Operation Manual

Basic operation Basic operation includes those tasks that can be performed when the control panel is in access level 1, the default access level. Basic operation in access level 1 lets you: Acknowledge a system event and silence the internal buzzer Cancel an active sounder delay Cancel an active fire routing delay Perform a control panel LED and internal buzzer test No other system controls are available at access level 1. Acknowledging a system event and silencing the internal buzzer To acknowledge a system event and silence the internal buzzer, press the Panel Silence button. A steady Panel Silence LED indicates that the internal buzzer was silenced and that all current events were acknowledged. Cancelling an active sounder delay If a sounder delay is enabled and active, press the Sounder Start/Stop button to cancel the delay and activate sounders immediately. A sounder delay is indicated as follows: A steady Sounder Delay LED indicates that a delay is enabled. A flashing Sounder Start/Stop LED during a fire alarm indicates that the configured delay is active (sounders are activated when the configured delay elapses or when the delay is cancelled). A fire alarm activated by a manual call point overrides any configured delay and activates sounders immediately. Cancelling an active fire routing delay If a fire routing delay is enabled and active, press the Fire Routing Start button to cancel the delay and activate fire routing immediately. A fire routing delay is indicated as follows: A steady Fire Routing Delay LED indicates that a delay is enabled. A flashing Fire Routing Start LED during a fire alarm indicates that the configured delay is active (fire routing is activated when the configured delay elapses or when the delay is cancelled). A fire alarm activated by a manual call point overrides any configured delay and activates fire routing immediately. Kilsen KFP-CF Series Operation Manual 11

Performing a control panel LED indicator and internal buzzer test To perform a control panel LED indicator and internal buzzer test, press and hold the Test button for three seconds or more. The test is indicated as follows: The general Fault and System Fault LEDs flash. All other LEDs are steady. The internal buzzer sounds constantly. The test continues for as long as the Test button remains pressed (with an automatic timeout of twelve seconds). Advanced operation Advanced operation includes those tasks that can be performed when the control panel is in access level 2. This access level is password-protected and is reserved for authorized users who have been trained to operate the control panel. The default access level 2 password is 2222. Those tasks included in the topic Basic operation on page 11 are also available at access level 2. Resetting the control panel To reset the control panel and clear all current system events, press the Reset button. System events that have not been resolved continue to be highlighted when the reset process ends. Caution: Investigate all fire alarms and system faults before resetting the control panel. Stopping sounders or restarting stopped sounders To stop sounders, press the Sounder Start/Stop button. To restart stopped sounders, press the button again. A steady Sounder Start/Stop LED indicates that the sounders are active (sounding). A flashing Sounder Start/Stop LED indicates that a configured sounder delay is active (to cancel an active sounder delay, see Cancelling an active sounder delay on page 11). Note: Sounder functionality is defined by your system configuration settings and stopped sounders may restart automatically if another alarm event is detected. Contact your fire system installation or maintenance contractor to confirm your configuration details. Enabling or disabling a configured sounder delay To enable a configured sounder delay, press the Sounder Delay button. To disable the delay, press the button again. Note: Availability of this feature is subject to configuration and its functionality may vary for each zone. Contact your fire system installation or maintenance contractor to confirm your configuration details. Enabling or disabling a configured fire routing delay To enable a configured fire routing delay, press the Fire Routing Delay button. To disable the delay, press the button again. Enabling or disabling a configured extended fire routing delay If configured, the extended fire routing delay is enabled or disabled at the same time as the standard fire routing delay. In NEN 2535 operating mode, the extended fire routing delay becomes the active delay when sounders are stopped (by pressing the Sounder Start/Stop button) and remain stopped when the standard fire routing delay time has elapsed. In EN 54-2 Scandinavia operating mode, the extended fire routing delay becomes the active delay when an extended fire routing delay switch is activated while the standard fire routing delay elapses. Testing a zone To test a zone, press the general Test button, and then press the corresponding Zone button. The maximum number of zones that may be tested at the same time is four. A zone in test is indicated as follows: The general Test LED is steady. The Zone Fault/Disable/Test LED is steady. When an alarm is activated in a zone in test: The general Fire Alarm LEDs and Zone alarm LED are steady or flashing, depending on the source of the alarm. Fire routing and other zone-dependent functions are not activated. Unless configured otherwise, the sounders are activated for five seconds and the Sounder Start/Stop LED is steady (see note). Unless configured otherwise, the internal buzzer sounds constantly (see note). The control panel will reset automatically after five seconds and clear alarms for the zone in test. To end the test, press the Test button, and then press the Zone button again. If there is a fire alarm in another zone not in test, the control panel responds to the alarm event as configured. Note: The internal buzzer and sounders may be configured not to sound when an alarm is activated in a zone being tested. Contact your fire system installation or maintenance contractor to confirm your configuration details. Disabling a zone or enabling a disabled zone To disable a zone, press the general Disable button, and then press the corresponding Zone button. A disabled zone is indicated as follows: The general Disable LED is steady. The zone Fault/Disable/Test LED is steady. WARNING: No fire alarm or faults are indicated for disabled zones. Testing sounders To test sounders, press the general Test button, and then press the Sounder Fault/Disable/Test button. Sounders can only be tested when the control panel is in standby. The test is indicated as follows: The general Test LED is steady. The Sounder Fault/Disable/Test LED is steady. The sounders emit the audible test signal (three seconds on, five seconds off) for the duration of the test, without any configured delay. To end the test, press the general Test button, and then press the Sounder Start/Stop button again. If there is a fire alarm the fire panel will exit the test immediately and respond to the alarm as configured. Disabling sounders or enabling disabled sounders To disable sounders, press the general Disable button, and then press the Sounder Fault/Disable/Test button. Sounders can only be disabled when the control panel is in standby. Disabled sounders are indicated as follows: The general Disable LED is steady. The Sounder Fault/Disable/Test LED is steady. To enable the sounders, press the general Disable button, and then press the Sounder Fault/Disable/Test button again. WARNING: Disabled sounders do not indicate a fault or operate if there is a fire alarm. Testing fire routing Caution: Always notify the fire brigade of any planned fire routing tests. To test fire routing, press the general Test button, and then press the Fire Routing Start button. The test is indicated as follows: The general Test LED is steady. The Fire Routing Fault/Disable/Test LED is steady. The Fire Routing Start LED flashes and the test signal (three seconds on/five seconds off) is activated without any configured delay for the duration of the test. If there is a fire alarm the fire panel will exit the test and respond to the alarm as configured. Disabling fire routing or enabling disabled fire routing To disable fire routing, press the general Disable button, and then press the Fire Routing Start button. Disabled fire routing is indicated as follows: The general Disable LED is steady. The Fire Routing Fault/Disable/Test LED is steady. To enable the expansion modules, press the general Disable button, and then press Enter again. Maintenance Fire alarm system maintenance Perform the following maintenance tasks to ensure that your fire alarm system works correctly and complies with all required European regulations. Caution: Before performing any tests, ensure that fire routing (if configured) is disabled or that the fire brigade has been notified. Daily maintenance Check that the control panel is in standby. If it is not, investigate all system events and/or contact your installation or maintenance contractor to fix any reported faults. Weekly maintenance Activate an alarm from at least one detector or manual call point in your fire alarm system and verify that the control panel responds correctly to the alarm. If it does not, investigate all system events and/or contact your installation or maintenance contractor to fix any reported faults. Caution: Perform this test from a different detector or manual call point each time. Quarterly maintenance Contact your installation or maintenance contractor to carry out a quarterly inspection of the fire alarm system. This inspection must test at least one device per zone and verify that the control panel responds to all fault and alarm events. The control panel power supply and battery voltage should be checked. Batteries with low voltage must be replaced (for more information see Battery maintenance on page 18). Annual maintenance Contact your installation or maintenance contractor to carry out an annual inspection of the fire alarm system. This inspection must test all system devices and verify that the control panel responds to all fault and alarm events. All electrical connections must be visually inspected to make sure that they are securely fastened, that they have not been damaged, and that they are appropriately protected. Cleaning Keep the outside and inside of the control panel clean. Carry out periodic cleaning using a damp cloth for the outside. Do not use products containing solvents to clean the unit. Battery maintenance The control panel requires two 12 V, 7.2 or 12 Ah rechargeable sealed lead-acid batteries. Compatible batteries for this product are shown in Table 4 below. Batteries are installed inside the control panel cabinet and must be installed in series, using the leads and bridge provided. Polarity must be observed. Connect batteries to the BATT connector on the control panel PCB. If this LED flashes, check the following: That the battery cables are in good condition That the battery cables are connected securely and correctly at the battery and at the control panel PCB That the battery voltage is greater than 19.6 V If the cables are in good condition and all connections are correct, then the batteries should be replaced immediately. Replacing batteries Batteries must be replaced periodically as recommended by the manufacturer. The useful life of the battery is approximately four years. Avoid the total discharge of the batteries. Always use the recommended replacement batteries. To replace the batteries: 1. Disconnect and remove the existing batteries from the cabinet. 2. Install and connect the replacement batteries using the bridge provided. Observe correct polarity. 3.
