Electric strikes Electric strikes are probably the most common product used in doors that have an electric locking mechanism. Electric strikes provide a good locking solution typically for doors that are used very frequently. Durability and quick operation are preferred over security. Electric strikes are also a good choice for doors that are situated in a tough environment. Our electric strikes are well known for high quality, fast release and durability and are available in three different grades: Heavy duty The heavy duty strike is the most powerful strike in the range and should be used in applications where high security and resistance to vandalism is most important. Standard/Universal duty The standard/universal strike is an ideal solution in many doors where reliability is a major consideration but where high security strikes are not required. Simple The use of a simple strike is mainly to protect areas inside a building against unauthorised access and where the perimeter protection is covered by other products. FUNCTIONS Fail locked This function means that the electric strike will be locked only as long as the power is off. In case of a power failure, the strike will remain locked. The strike will open as soon as it receives power. Fail unlocked This function means that the electric strike will be locked only as long as the power is on. In case of a power failure, the strike will open. The strike will lock as soon as it receives power. This function is typically used in emergency exit doors. Day locking The most important attribute for a day lock is quick opening and good durability rather than high security. Typically an electric strike or a solenoid lock is used as a day lock as both products provide durable solutions for doors with high frequent usage. Night locking A night lock is typically a motor lock rather than an electric strike or a solenoid lock. The motor lock has a much higher security level compared to electric strikes and solenoid locks the dead bolt function. It may be remote controlled, thus providing a automatic night-time locking. 4

HEAVY DUTY ELECTRIC STRIKES Solid 141, 5141, 8141 Fail locked Assa heavy duty electric strikes have a built-in fuse that guarantees the electric strike vibration-proof, greatly improving security. For use on external door entry systems where high security and resistance to vandalism is paramount, such as high rise residential accommodation, multiple occupancy office buildings, elderly persons units, banks or other high-frequency use doors. Body, faceplate and pivoting staple are manufactured from high grade steel. Available in 12 and 24V DC versions. Very high strength resists minimum 10,000 N (1 000 kg) side pressure on the pivoting staple. Tested to 1,000,000 opening cycles. Protected against manipulation by an impact/vibration bar. Current consumption 300 ma for 12V DC versions or 160 ma for 24V DC version. Solid 141 DC continuous duty fail-locked. The strike opens when the current is on and locks automatically when the current is switched off. Fitting example Solid 5141 DC continuous duty fail-locked with built-in microswitch. STANDARD ELECTRIC STRIKES Solid ANSI Face plates The ANSI mounting kit makes the standard SOLID electric strikes fit with American, Canadian, British, Australian and Far East types of locks (with up to 1/2 or 12 mm latch depth). These electric strikes are suitable for use on fire resistant doors (according to Swedish standards) in entrances for high rise residential accommodation and inside in multiple occupancy office buildings. It also fits where the electronic access control system needs to be supplemented by a mechanical deadlocking function. This would give increased physical security whilst restricting access to keyholders - typical applications might include offices where daytime and nighttime security requirements differ. Electric strike together with long faceplate (174.5 mm) and short faceplate (123.7 mm) including mounting clip illustrated. Extension lips are shown separately. Faceplate is manufactured from high grade steel. Used in combination with Universal and Standard Duty electric strikes. Used together with double latch bolt locks. Available in two versions, ANSI Long or ANSI Short The standard ANSI lip measures 26.5 mm from the centre of the electric strike to the edge of the lip and makes the door close flush with the frame. Where door/frame relationship is different, one or more strike lip adapters may be added. Each lip adapter are 25.4 mm. DOOR HOLDER MAGNETS Magnum door magnets Solid 828 Solid magnum 828 with anchor. Magnum door-holder magnets are primarily designed to keep doors shut in emergency exit routes. Suitable places can be emergency exit doors in factories, sports halls, department stores, high frequency use doors and doors where other electrical locking is not possible. The magnets are protected against sabotage, such as lacquer, paint sprays or impact marks on the contact surfaces. If the magnet is not pulling with its full power, this is shown by a diode on the front. The magnets have no mechanical parts that form obstacles. With their efficient magnetic force they keep the doors locked, but are still easily and safely able to be opened in the event of evacuation (breaking the current circuit). If the magnets are further connected to a fire alarm and individual emergency opening buttons, a high emergency evacuation safety level is achieved. Accessories 828-5 Fixing plate for secure fitting of anchor 828-6 Assembly kit for fitting on the door s hinge side. Indication the magnet indicates by means of a red and green light diode when the door is locked/unlocked. The indication is also given by means of a freely alternating relay for external needs (e.g. manoeuvre panel, gate connections etc.) Anti-residual magnetism the magnets have built-in electronics that eliminate residual magnetism in the event of a loss of power. 828-4 Angle console for magnet Technical specification Modell Holding power in kg Current consumption 12VDC / 24 VDC Length in mm Depth in mm Height in mm Solid 828 > 500 500 ma / 250 ma 281 37 68 An ASSA ABLOY Group company 41

Door loop Assa 8810 and 8811 - Concealed ACCESSORIES Assa 8810 Assa 8811 Door loops 8810 and 8811 are designed for transition of the electrical leads from the door to the frame section. For maximum bend safety a lead is employed with the highest possible number of wires, maximum cable thickness 7.4 mm. Assa 8811 is used if the door s opening angle is greater than 120 or if the lateral displacement on spring is greater than 40 mm. Door loops are installed in the upper part of the door s hinge side. Drilling for the protective plate is made in the door. Pulling the lead through is done before the protective plate and the spring are fitted. The drilling should be made big enough for the leads to be able to move about a bit. Dimensions Door loop Solid 83 - Surface mounted Solid 83 Is a 400 mm flexible metalltube with fittings in white plastic. Max cable dimension 6 mm round cable. Solid 83/600 Same as above but in 600 mm length. 42 An ASSA ABLOY Group company
