2 Introduction Introduction UNION offers a range of rim-mounted and dual access locks, which are ideal for commercial and residential use. The range includes rim locks and nightlatches as well as a choice of two dual access devices to suit the particular application. Note We have made every effort to ensure that at the time of going to print all information in this catalogue is correct. All dimensions provided within this catalogue are approximate and for guidance only. Guarantee UNION products are guaranteed for 1 year from the date of purchase against mechanical faults arising from defects in materials or design. In the unlikely event of your UNION product failing as a result of defective materials or design a free replacement product will be provided. It is a condition of this guarantee that your UNION product: Has been correctly installed and maintained in accordance with the instructions provided to you at the time of purchase Has not been modified in any way This guarantee does not apply to mechanical faults caused wilfully or negligently, or to the surface finish of your product. Proof of purchase must be submitted when making a claim under this guarantee and all claims must be submitted within 2 months of you discovering the mechanical fault of your UNION product. Grading of Locks Commercial Grade Locks Commercial Grade locks are the premier range and are recommended for use in all applications e.g. Residential, Private Sector, Commercial Office, Retail and Entertainment Complexes and the whole spectrum of Public Sector Developments. These locks are of superior engineering design, robust construction, use thicker gauge metals and are subject to stringent testing. Their performance is guaranteed subject to correct application. Standard Grade Locks Standard Grade locks are designed to meet the demand for lower cost locks by Private and Public Sector developers who need to meet strict budgetary constraints. The locks are value engineered to meet functional requirements at reduced costs. The performance of this range will be inferior to that of Commercial Grade locks and ASSA ABLOY do not guarantee their performance in high traffic situations and in conditions where they could be subject to abuse. Caution should be exercised when using these locks in combination with heavy unsprung or poorly sprung lever handles.

3 Keying Options To Differ (i.e. Standard) To Differ (i.e. Standard) indicates locks can be supplied with a standard range of different keys. This range varies from 18 in the case of certain 2 lever locks to 500 in the case of certain 5 lever locks. The range of different keys available with Pin tumbler cylinders is approximately Keyed Alike Keyed Alike indicates that designated locks can be manufactured to be operated by a single standard key. Locks are described as being Keyed Alike to Standard Differs. Alternatively designated locks under a Master Key or Grand Master Key system can also be keyed alike. These are described as being Keyed Alike under Master Key or Keyed Alike under Grand Master Key. Master Keyed Master Keyed indicates that designated locks can be operated by two different keys, one, the Servant Key operates individual locks, whilst the Master Key operates all locks. (This group of locks are referred to as a Suite, hence the term en-suite locks). There are limitations to the number of locks that can be master keyed in a single suite. We recommend that you consult your ASSA ABLOY technical sales consultant in this regard. For a schematic representation of a Master Keyed system refer to figure 1. Grand Master Keyed Grand Master Keyed indicates that designated locks can be operated by three or more different keys, one, the Servant Key operates individual locks whilst the Grand Master Key operates all locks. (The locks can be grouped into two or more different Sub Suites where a Sub Master Key opens those in a particular Sub Suite). The term en-suite is also applied to locks in this configuration. There are limitations to the number of locks that can be master keyed in a single suite and to the number of Sub Suites in such a system. We recommend that you consult your ASSA ABLOY technical sales consultant in this regard. For a schematic representation of a Grand Master Keyed system refer to figure 2. Specifiers need to clearly document the intended Keying Option. Schematic representations as illustrated in Figures 1 and 2 are recommended. Alternatively this can be done in tabular form, an example of this method is illustrated in figure 3. (Attached please find a laminated blank table, for your use).
