Studies Department GCU Prospectus 01 15 Academic Programmes BSc(Hons) Applied MSD has designed this program considering the changing academic environment. The program is structured after reviewing undergraduate programs at internationally renowned schools. It builds upon the old year Bachelor's Degree(BA/BSc/BCom)that enables students to earn a four year BSc (Hons) degree by studying for another two years. Scope Our graduates compete for the top placements. They are also eligible to apply in local & foreign universities for a Master's degree program. Programme Structure In order to earn B.Sc. (Hons) Degree in Applied, the students will be required to complete a minimum of -7 credit hours in addition to their existing -year degree. The students must have a total of 1-1 credit hours to qualify for a -year Honors Degree. The first semester of this program consists of four compulsory courses of 18 credit hours. A five week skill building term comprising of credit hours follows the first semester. In the competitive environment where proficient use of information and communication technology is critical, this term helps the students learn tools and techniques to improve personal productivity. The second semester consists of three compulsory courses of credit hours and three of credit hours offering a total of 18 credit hours. Semester III comprises six months of organization based learning. Students can take up to 9 credit hours courses that match their work placement. Fourth semester comprises of two compulsory courses, two electives and a research paper. The maximum number of credit hours offered are 18. We also offer a summer term which is designed to fulfill the 1-1 credit hour requirement of HEC for a Bachelor (Hons) Degree program. This term offers courses (9 credit hours) to bridge the gap between BA/BSc (under annual system) and BSc (Hons) Applied.
