Installing the Web Access Control The first time that you connect to the Vision Works datacenter, you need to allow Microsoft Internet Explorer to install the Web Access control in order to successfully log in to the Vision Works software. You will only need to do this the first time you connect. To start, open Microsoft Internet Explorer, type the following URL into the web address pane and press the Enter key: https://asp.vision works.com After pressing Enter, you may receive the following cautionary message dialog box if you do, simply select OK to advance past this message. A VisionWorks log on page will display after you have successfully connected to the VisionWorks datacenter see image below. If the center of the Vision Works log on page does not look like the above, it means the Web Access control did not install correctly and contact your support person for Vision Works assistance. Entering Your User Name and Password
The Vision Works log on page contains fields for entering your user name and password. Your user name must be prefixed by your agency log on code, which consists of four letters followed by an underscore. For example, if user jsmith were to log on using the agency log on code of demo, the Vision Works log on page would resemble: Your agency s log on code and your user name are NOT case sensitive. You can enter them in all caps, all lower case, or in mixed cased. However, your password IS case sensitive and must be entered exactly as it was set up in the Vision Works software. If you do not have your agency log on code, user name or password, please contact your support person. Log On Security As shown below, the center of the Vision Works log on page contains settings that allow you to select your log on security. The first time that you log on, the Security setting will default to Public. You should use this setting if you are using a computer in a public setting or using a computer that is not owned by Young House or yourself. When the Public security setting is used, the computer will not retain the name of the last user that logged on and the inactivity timeout will be shorter. If you are using a computer in an office environment that is owned by Young House or used only by yourself, you should change the Security setting to Private as shown below: When the Private security setting is used, the computer will retain the name of the last user that logged on so that all you will need to do is enter your password. This setting also makes the inactivity timeout longer than the Public setting.
Once you have entered your username and password and have set the security option, press the Sign In button to log into the Vision Works datacenter. When you are successfully connected to the Vision Works datacenter, you should be shown the Vision Works log on page. Depending on which version of Microsoft Internet Explorer you are running, you may receive the following pop up messages (see next 2 screenshots) at either the bottom of your page or the middle of the page.
The message shown on the above image will be presented: Do you want to open or save cpub DEMO Hosting CmsRdsh.rdp from hosting.vision works.com? Select Open. You will be prompted to allow the installation of the Microsoft Remote Desktop Services Web Access Control from Microsoft Corporation. Depending on which version of Microsoft Internet Explorer you are running, this prompt will either be at the top of the web page or the bottom. Simply follow the prompt instructions to install the Web Access control, responding Yes or Allow to any prompt to allow the control to install and/or run. When you successfully install the Web Access control, the center of the Vision Works log on page should look like this: Launching the Vision Works Software
During the software launch cycle, your computer will display a RemoteApp notification as shown below. This notification informs you that our datacenter is asking your computer to run a program that will connect your computer with the Vision Works software. Make sure that the Publisher line on the notification is from vision works.com (other information on the notification may be different from what is shown below). If the Publisher line is correct, check the Don t ask me again for remote connections from this publisher checkbox so that your computer knows to trust further connections from our datacenter.
Once you have pressed the Connect button, you will see a status dialog like the one below: This dialog will be shown during the time it takes for our datacenter to establish a secure connection to your computer, create a session on one of our servers and launch the Vision Works software. Depending on the speed of your computer and your network, this may take from 15 to 30 seconds to complete, so please be patient.
When the launch process is complete, the Vision Works software will appear on your desktop and you will see an icon for the software on your computer s task bar. Closing the Vision Works Software When you are finished using the Vision Works software, you may exit the software by using the File > Exit menu item or clicking the X in the upper right hand corner of the software. Note that if you click the Sign Out button in the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser while the Vision Works software is running, the software will immediately terminate and you will lose any work in progress.
