About the Exhibition GIDA WorldFood Istanbul, known as WorldFood Istanbul for 2013, has been taking place for the past 20 years and is Turkey s largest food exhibition. The event annually attracts thousands of industry professionals to see in a live environment, the products that are available to the market, and learn more about the latest technologies. About the Market The Turkish food industry represents a wealth of opportunity for international companies. Two new groups, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supplies (MAPA) from Brazil and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, participated for the first time at the exhibition in 2012, as well as an Afghanistan national group joined Ingredients Turkey. According to the OECD, Turkey is expected to be the fastest growing economy of the OECD members during 2011-2017, with an annual average growth rate of 6.7 percent. Turkey s food industry has registered a steady growth in recent years, as consumers are experiencing rising disposable incomes and have an increased awareness of foreign produce which they wish to incorporate into their lifestyles. There is particular demand for energy drinks, health food and ready meals. There are very few domestic suppliers of these products, opening up huge opportunities for international companies. Ingredients Turkey took place alongside GIDA WorldFood Istanbul for the first time in 2012, and is dedicated to food ingredients, additives and flavourings. This co-location means that exhibitors can meet the full spectrum of visitors from the food industry.
