3 INTRODUCTION This year s edition of the Data & Trends of the European Food and Drink Industry report offers a comprehensive picture of the structure and economics of Europe s food and drink sector. The EU food and drink industry is a key pillar of the EU economy, outperforming a large number of other EU manufacturing sectors. It is the largest manufacturing industry in the EU in terms of turnover, value added and employment. The Data & Trends report provides in depth analysis of the EU single market, world markets, and a European and global ranking of food and drink companies.
