FAITH FORMATION at ASSUMPTION Kindergarten DURING 11:00 A.M. MASS Children explore Bible stories in fun and active ways while parents attend Mass. Kindergarten students must be 5 by Dec 1, 2016. The program will run during the 11:00 A.M. Sunday Mass. Parents of registered students will receive information in the mail. Grades 1-5 Through doctrine, scripture, morality, prayer and sacraments the children explore our faith in an age appropriate way. Life and faith are interwoven throughout each session to help the children grow in their love for Jesus and His Church and to help them build skills that will help them to live Christian lives. Grades 6 & 7 Our 6 th and 7 th grade program attempts to reinforce the faith formation that our children have been involved in since their Baptism. In addition to our regular classroom options, we will again offer The Edge a Life Teen Curriculum- as a SoR option for students in grades 6 and 7. This program will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:15-7:45. Space is limited, so register early. High School Service Group Teens who have already been confirmed and who are interested in participating in acts of Christian service within our local and extended communities are invited to join Deacon Ron s high school service group. The service projects may include activities such as: soup kitchen, breakfast ministry at a women s shelter or at an inner-city church, an after-school program at a children s center in the city, Saturday morning field trips with city children, and other possibilities. The group will meet with Deacon Ron on Wednesday, September 21 st and Wednesday, September 28 th from 7:15-8:15 P.M. in the Parish Living Room to talk about service project ideas and to come up with a schedule of activities. TEENS WILL NOT BE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN EVERY PROJECT, but only as their school, family, work, sports, etc. schedules permit. THERE IS NO FEE FOR THIS ACTIVITY. FAITH FORMATION FOR SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS Please let us know about your child(ren) with special needs so that we can meet with you to form a faith formation plan that will fit your child s needs. FATHER KELLY SCHOOL OF RELIGION PARENT INVOLVEMENT FORM -- WE NEED YOU!! "It takes a village to raise a child" African-American proverb The Faith Formation Programs for children at Assumption are possible only because of the support and involvement of so many parents and parishioners who share their time and talent. This year we are asking each family enrolling their children in our School of Religion to help us continue to build and strengthen this important ministry. Please read through the list of options and prayerfully consider how you can best share your time and talent with our children. In an effort to create a safer environment for our children and teens, all those who work with them are asked to attend a workshop and to give approval for a criminal record background check. This process (Creating A Safe Environment) is required by the Diocese of Rochester for all volunteers who work with children, youth or vulnerable adults. Questions or concerns regarding this policy may be directed to Cathy Tocci or Bethany Lyle. CASE training sessions will be offered on Thursday, October 6 th at 9:30 A.M. or 6:30 P.M. The training is also offered on line. Call Bethany at the School of Religion office for more details. Name Phone E-Mail Catechist (Religion Teacher) (Training is provided!!!!!)
