1 First Presbyterian Church Wichita Falls, Texas Director of Youth Ministries Job Description For learning about wisdom and instruction, for understanding words of insight, for gaining instruction in wise dealing, righteousness, justice, and equity; to teach shrewdness to the simple, knowledge and patience to the young--let the wise also hear and gain in learning, and the discerning acquire skill, to understanding a proverb and a figure, the words of the wise and their riddles. ~Proverbs 1:2-6 Accountability: The Director of Student Ministries is directly accountable to the session and the Senior or Associate Pastor. The Senior Pastor is the head of staff. Qualifications: 1. Confessed and committed disciple of Jesus Christ 2. Willing to embrace Reformed Tradition 3. Bachelors Degree Preferred Qualifications: 1. 3 years experience in youth ministry with responsibilities for organizing and planning. Duties and Responsibilities: a. Fosters an intimate relationship with Christ and the students. b. Supervises youth ministry program for Junior and Senior High age students with an understanding that youth ministry includes worship, education, spiritual-developement, service, fellowship, outreach, affirmation of youth and support of families of youth. c. Responsible for coordinating and overseeing weekly youth programs. d. Recruits, trains, councils, and guides volunteers to work as partners in youth ministry. e. Oversees the planning and execution of special youth events such as local church retreats, lock-ins, seminars, and out-oftown excursions. f. Publicize upcoming youth events. g. Recruit and train teachers for the Junior and Senior High classes. h. Choose and develop curriculum for the Junior and Senior High classes. i. Collaborate with staff in planning, conductings, and evaluation of the Confirmation class. j. Collaborate with other ministries in church including college, children s, etc. Committee Liaison: 1. Works through committee structure in securing approval for youth activities. 2. Coordinates with the pastoral staff and the worship and music committee for youth participation in worship services. 3. Works with Parent Council a. Oversees budget expenditures for supplies, materials, equipment, and special projects. b. Consults, advises, and assists the council in oversight of the total youth program of the church. Other Duties: Process: 1.
