Infrastructure & Cities Sector Rail Systems Division Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 FY 2012 Division profile The Rail Systems Division is responsible for Siemens' entire rail vehicle business including everything from trains, metro systems and locomotives to trams, light rail systems and rail related services. Supporting railway operators worldwide, our employees collaborate with customers on a local basis to develop tailor-made mobility solutions. Technology highlights examples New orders / innovations in Q2 The Italian private railway operator Fuori Muro has awarded Siemens a contract for two Vectron DC locomotives. It is the first Vectron order from Italy. The vehicles will be built at the Siemens plant in Munich-Allach and delivered to the customer in December 2013. Fuori Muro will use the two locomotives primarily to transport freight on the roughly 60 kilometer long railway line connecting the port city of Genoa and the Interporto Rivalta Scrivia terminal in its hinterland. Infrastructure & Cities Sector Mobility and Logistics Division Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 FY 2012 Division profile Mobility and Logistics provide services for customers whose business models are based on optimizing passenger and freight transport. As a new Division, we bundle all of Siemens' activities in the area of intermodal traffic, transport and logistics management. Our offerings include rail automation systems, infra-structure logistics systems, intelligent traffic and transport systems, and solutions for electric mobility infrastructures. Technology highlights examples New orders / innovations in Q2 Siemens has been commissioned by Attiko Metro S.A. to provide the technical infrastructure for the 16 kilometer long extension of the subway lines 2 and 3 in Athens. Siemens will supply the signaling technology and components to control the trains electronically. Use of the network can now be optimized through the partial automation of the subway network. The network expansion will also reduce the number of cars on Athens' streets each day by around 30,000. That means a reduction in CO2 emissions of 130 tons a day. Infrastructure & Cities Sector Low and Medium Voltage Division Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 FY 2012 Division profile LMV supplies public energy providers, industrial companies and municipal utilities with a complete range of products, systems and solutions for power distribution infrastructures. The portfolio includes highly reliable power distribution technology for conventional and renewable power plants as well as intelligent, compact switching stations for urban and rural distribution networks. It also offers energy efficient solutions for heavy industry, the oil and gas industry, the process industry and for the integration of renewable energies and of energy storage devices into power grids. New orders / innovations in Q2 Toward the end of January 2012, Siemens Infrastructure & Cities opened a manufacturing plant at its new location in the State of Goa, India, to produce gas-insulated medium-voltage switchgear. In the initial phase the plant is already providing employment for 120 people. The factory in India is equipped with state-of-the-art production facilities, and has an infrastructure with lean processes based on the leading quality standards of the main Siemens plant in Frankfurt. In a paradigm shift from conventional unidirectional energy and communication flows to bidirectional flows, flexible smart grids are mastering this challenge by providing the right solutions for power generation, transmission and distribution as well as for railway electrification, industry, infrastructure and cities. Technology highlights examples New orders / innovations in Q2 Following a trial phase with various grid operators, Siemens Infrastructure & Cities has brought the new protection device series Siprotec 5 onto the market. These numerical bay units with their modularstructure hardware and software are the first in the world to be specifically developed for protection, automation, measurement and monitoring in high voltage power transmission systems. As a service provider, systems integrator and product supplier, we offer systems for building automation, climate control, fire safety and security. New orders / innovations in Q1 The Siemens Building Technologies Division has introduced version 5 of its Desigo building automation system. SFS Project Highlights for Infrastructure & Cities Metro Line Santo Domingo For the second metro line in Santo Domingo, SFS has put together a multisource financing package totaling more than EUR 133 million. Taking a cross-consortium approach, SFS coordinated the financing structure, the negotiations with the banks, the guarantee concept and the financial close. Working on behalf of a consortium comprising French and Dominican companies, Siemens was awarded the contract. ICx SFS strongly supported the IC Sector to secure one of the biggest orders in the history of Siemens the framework agreement for ICx trains with Deutsche Bahn. The volume for the first planned 220 trains amounts to EUR 6 billion. SFS intensively advised the Sector on the construction financing, developed and assessed various alternatives with regard to price, accounting treatment, tender process and risks. Florida Institute of Technology Siemens Building Technologies supplied an energy-conversion solution to meet the needs of the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT). Siemens Financial Services was able to fund the $USD 10 million project for FIT. The annual energy and utility savings generated by the new equipment will exceed the annual cost to finance the entire project. For FIT, the project will pay for itself over the 10 -year financing term. Beijing Chaoyang District Siemens signed a strategic partnership with Beijing Chaoyang District Government to promote energy saving and emission reduction in public buildings and other relevant sectors in the District. Through a lease financing solution and guaranteed energy savings, the IC Sector will help the District Government to improve the energy and operational efficiency without the burden of high initial capital expenditure.
