Transcription:

I have been involved in the education of Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist s (SRNAs) for the last 10 years. Serving as a preceptor, and clinical coordinator from 2005-2010, which inspired me to leap into didactic education full time. I entered academia as a full time lecturer in the fall of 2010, competing my Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2012. I served as Interim program director for the University of Miami from February to September of 2013. I served as President of the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthetist from 2013-2014, during a tumultuous time within the state of Florida, defending our education and training publicly in front of state legislators. I accepted a position as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Barry University. All these positions changed me and served as eye opening experiences, inspiring me in several ways. I truly believe SRNA s and CRNA s education is of upmost importance to protect our profession s future. Healthcare is rapidly changing and our profession must adapt to these changes and meet new demands. We must constantly prove and hold ourselves to higher standards. My personal mission is to continue to support and enhance the education of our future leaders, maintain the highest academic standards across this country, and to create awareness of the need for participation from all of our members.
