COMMUNITY SERVICE United Way of Laredo Participated in fund distribution site visits to local nonprofit organizations that applied for United Way funding. Service Learning activities America Speaks As part of a class on Cross Sectoral Governance, summer 2010, organized a town hall meeting in conjunction with national town hall meetings being held across the US through the America Speaks organization to give citizens the opportunity to discuss and provide input to the US Congress on the US budget. Orlando Cares As part of an Advanced Seminar on Public Administration, fall 2010, facilitated focus groups for the City of Orlando as part of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer s volunteer initiative, Orlando Cares. The focus groups were convened to garner input and support for the cities new volunteerism initiative.
