BioLinX Örnsköldsvik 2016-11-17 Lars Josefsson The West Sweden Chemicals & Materials Cluster

The West Sweden Chemicals & Materials Cluster A triple helix collaboration Industry Academy & Institutes Public actors

Four focus areas The cluster drives questions and development projects linked to the following four focus areas: Renewable raw materials for use to chemical and material products as well as automotive fuels Resource and energy efficiency Recycling Competence development and sourcing

Chemicals & Materials Cluster offers Network of stakeholders from industry, academia/institutions and public sector. A forum to lift and drive core issues for the cluster s actors. Opportunity to initiate and participate in projects important for the cluster s actors. Network activities; seminara, workshops, conferences och dialogue meetings.

Aim Developing and strengthening cooperation between actors from the industry, academia/institutes and the public sector. Initiating innovation and development projects within the priority areas. Strength The cluster s strength lies at the cross-linking of actors from the chemical, energy, recycling and forest industry.

Goal The cluster s overall objective is to contribute to a fossil-fuel independent Västra Götaland Region by 2030. Cluster s goal is also to strengthen the competitiveness of companies in the region. Effects Sustainable growth Increased competitiveness New investments and establishments in the region

A first meeting in Aug 2011 Forest Declining market One set of network Looking for new appliocations Chemistry Fossile raw material An other set of network Willingness to find Bio-raw material Knowledge about forest Manage and process forest Knowledge about end products Manage and process Chemicals
