Settings Device wizard Using the device wizard you can change the type of trainer you want to connect. Select the right trainer image, click Next and go through the next steps to connect your trainer in the correct manner. User profile Enter your personal data in the user profile. Join BikeNet Weight Time zone By checking this box your profile will be saved in the Tacx database. You can then use BikeNet (for sharing rides) and download your user anywhere in the world. Enter your body weight only. The software automatically adds 7 kg for the bike. Important for Multiplayer races. The time zone must match the calendar features on the Tacx VR site. User photo The Photo tab contains several options. Click Search to add a photo. A browse screen will enable you to select a photo from the PC. You can adjust the photo with the buttons below. Mirror (top-bottom) If you activate the tick box below the photo, it will be automatically added to every training session. Other VR riders who download your scores through BikeNet will see this photo in the additional information. Social media By linking the Tacx Trainer software to social media you can share your training rides with your friends. Link to Twitter and Facebook When you select Link to Twitter the Twitter login screen will appear. After logging in you will see a code. This code has to be entered in the Tacx Trainer software. After selecting Verify Code the software will be linked to Twitter and from then on you can easily share your training rides. For Facebook you only have to log in. - 3 - September 11, 2013
BikeNet When you are connected to BikeNet you can determine how to share the scores. When BikeNet is On you can choose an opponent before you start training. The general settings of the Tacx Trainer software can be adjusted here. - 4 - September 11, 2013
Make your choice in the tick box behind the button. To the right of the screen you will find a short description of the function. Adjusted settings are not applied until after you click Save. Search for updates Latest news Units Graphs Will automatically look for available updates. The available updates will be shown in the intro screen (Connected devices and Tacx Trainer software version). Shows the latest newsletter in the intro screen. Changes the units of distance, weight, energy and temperature. Changes the thickness (choose from 5 thicknesses) of graph lines in Analyser and during cycling in Catalyst. Also the shadow of the line can be turned on or off. Graph line thickness This is what you use to change the graph line thickness in positions 1 through 5, where 1 is thinnest and 5 thickest. Graph line shadow Heart rate display Collect usage statistics This is what you use to turn the graph line shadow on or off. Choice between showing the real value for heart rate or the percentage with regard to your maximum heart rate as entered in the user profile. This setting will be continued throughout the Tacx Trainer software. The program collects information about the computer hardware and the way you use this software, without interrupting you. This allows Tacx to determine whether or not certain functions need improvement. This information will not be used to identify or contact you (anonymous data). - 5 - September 11, 2013
Continue by clicking Next. Training settings From this tab you adjust the training settings. Sound Countdown Catalyst 3D Position indication Info box On or off. Count down 5, 10, 15 or 20 seconds before the starting shot. When you are training slope or distance in Catalyst the program can be converted into 3D. All riders will be visible on a virtual road. This function does not allow you to steer. Positions of the riders with regard to each other in time or distance. On enables pop-up screens with additional information about what you are going to encounter to appear while you are cycling. You can make info boxes yourself as well when you are setting a new training program. Continue by clicking Next. Maps settings This function only works when your computer is connected to the internet and you have activated a Google license (optional). If available the software will show pictures of the route during your ride. On or off. The display of roads in Google Earth. On or off. The display of borders and town names in Google Earth. Shows/hides the names of the riders when the 3D riders display in Google Earth is selected. Continue by clicking Next. Video From this tab you can choose between the first version of the Video Player and the new version. The new Video Player contains extra options, such as video overlay. Video Player 1.0 This video player works better on PCs with lower specifications (minimum PC specifications), such as a dual core processor. Video Player 2.0 This video player supports the video overlay function and only works on PCs with the recommended PC specifications. VR From this tab you change the basic options of Virtual Reality. Quality level Screen resolution The quality level determines the level of detail of the software. The highest quality level demands the most from your computer. The screen resolution determines the amount of pixels used on the screen. The higher the resolution, the better the picture quality. Enhances the image quality of textures on surfaces that are at oblique viewing angles with respect to the camera where the projection of the texture appears to be non-orthogonal. Minimises the distortion artifacts known as aliasing when representing a high-resolution image at a lower resolution. Resolution of the textures applied on surfaces. Lower will reduce memory footprint. Maximum number of frames queued up by graphics driver. Quality of the vegetation. Directional light shadow projection. The maximum number of pixel lights that should affect any object. Number of cascades to use for directional light shadows. Directional light shadow drawing distance. Synchronises graphics card actions with the monitor. Complete the process by clicking Finish.
