SOUTHERN ELEMENTARY 1200 FAIRFAX WAY GEORGETOWN, KY 40324 502-863-0772 AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM (K-5) PARENT/STUDENT HANDBOOK

SOUTHERN ELEMENTARY S AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM GRADES: K-5 BELIEF STATEMENT We the faculty of Southern Elementary believe: In the complete acceptance of the value and worth of the individual child. That attention should be given to the intellectual, democratic, moral and social values that will enable the child to function in our complex society with emphasis on the value of education and the necessity of work. That the school shall provide essential elements necessary to enable the child to engage in successful relationships within other learning centers. That the child should become able to participate fully in community, state, national, and international life as a responsible citizen. That we should provide guidance in the areas of basic learning, and economic awareness through occupational exploration, orientation and preparation for career decisions. That the child, teacher, parents, administration and community share the responsibility and accountability in the educational process. That through daily classroom experiences, we strive to teach self-respect, respect for others and their properties, respect for the responsibilities and privileges of a democracy, and respect for the principles upon which our country was founded. 2007-2008 Calendar August 10: First Day for Students May 26: No School September 3: Holiday June 2: Last Day for Students October 12: No School June 3: Last Day for Teachers October 15-19: Fall Break November 6: No School November 21: No School November 22: Holiday November 23: No School December19- January 1: No School December 25: Holiday January 14: Holiday March 21: No School March 31- April 4: Spring Break May 20: No School
